Robbed
Any info on Camp4lo guide that was robbed? Saw a post on another Baja form that his truck and everything was taken, but him and his dog were unharmed.
No other info was given.

I have never heard of Camp4lo. Where and when was this reported to have occurred?
Is the "where and when" part of the info not given?

The post on fb linked to a gofundme for an offroad tour guide that was robbed. The post and gofundme just said he was robbed in baja, car stolen. no
details. Didnt say what he needed the money for, I assume to buy a new car?
Woke!

Yeah, no other info given, but some good people have posted that they know him and want to support him. The where and when is what I was after, but it
sounds like they got his phone and everything he had with him.

Where is this mentioned? I searched on Gofundme, TalkBaja and the Camp4Lo page on FB.

The GoFundMe might do better if titled 'Robbed and Carjacked'

It is Matt Frick and he confirmed the story this morning. He was near Valle de la Trinidad and came upon a roadblock. He was robbed and had to walk
back to Trinidad.
Edit: this was on the dirt road between Valle Trinidad and Mex 1 (near San Vicente) in the daytime.

Thanks David, I just saw that they posted on it. Bummer, because the road is a nice way to skip Ensenada and the traffic. I will avoid it until they
get it under control.
When we came up from the hot springs (Canon de Guadalope) and out to Hwy 3 last year, the last canyon before we popped out at the remote ranch
off of 3. We saw at least ten burned out cars that had been stripped and dumped, not old junk either. Probably a popular spot to dump stolen cars, not
much traffic going out that way.

Valle de la Trinidad has a bad reputation. I have read stories about local banditos with guns stealing vehicles the past several years there. Baja
Overland on Instagram paints a different story of the area, but I think theyre busy chasing clout. I'm glad that Matt made it out unharmed and
hopefully he will be back on the trail sooner than later.

Back in 1872, no 1972 (time flys) My buddy and I were going to pit our club members in the Baja 500 or 1000, we spent the night in Valle de Trinidad.
We had a cooler and some ice and our camping neighbor had only beer. He ask us if he could put his beer in our cooler. We said sure.
After an evening well lubricated , we woke up the next morning our neighbors were gone.
We looked in our cooler and it had mucho beer in it.
They must have though "We've been ROBBED "

I am having trouble figuring out which back road this occurred on. Is Valle de la Trinidad the one on MX 3 (also called Lazaro Card##as?).
I am using a Benchmark Baja California Atlas if anyone has a reference page suggestion.

Yep, that's it. Gas station just off of the road on the right if you are headed to SF. Bold dotted line that comes out below San Vicente, above the
electrical substation on your map.

Thanks for the info! I have never explored that road, but have considered checking it out before this happened.
It sounds like it happened on the eastern end of the trail, but I wonder how far he was off the main road?

It's a pretty popular road for locals, high speed dirt. Very pretty drive when the flowers are in bloom. I've seen more than one eighteen-wheeler out
there before. There are a couple of cool off shoot roads that I've always wanted to checkout, but I'll probably hold off for a while.

Something similar happened here a few years ago and was discussed here. Like Ken wrote it’s a bad area.

I know Matt cool guy sorry he had problems. The dirt road is called Calentura we run it all the time . On dirt bikes and SXSs except only halfway to
V T . As it gets closer to V T very dangerous go slow blind curves. There is a secret abandon two track we ride on motos going east. Then pop out on
that road head back to San Vicente. We were camped at El Coyotes last Sat Sun Mon. Also, group of eight Sxs and motos the left on Sunday rode To
Mikes . Then VT for fuel and took Calentura road back to San Vicente. Reported no problems the halfway point on that road. Used to be military check
point.

I've never been on that road, so don't know what kind of traffic it sees.
Wondering if Matt was targeted because the robbers knew he would be coming along, or if they set up for anyone who happens to come by.
