Puertecitos- Tides for hot springs?
So for those who want a good soak in the springs, which moon faze is preferable? Full/new or quarter? And please-- no cheap moon jokes (they crack me
up!!)!!

I like your style Bruce. Last January I checked the calendar for moon faze, and scheduled a Cabo trip for me and my wife. Stayed at the Melia, and the
full moon rising over the bay was worth the price of the trip! And of course, you don`t really have to hit it on the full moon day. Anything near is
also great!!

nothing like watching the sun rise over the Sea of Cortes from the hot springs
definitely worth the early rise

The better time for a soak is after the high tide, so the pools are freshly flushed clean... People (years ago) took soap into them for washing
themselves... yech! So, just after the pools have been exposed by a receding tide is best. Also, the water temp could be too hot if you go when the
tide is low as just the hot sulfur water has no cool sea water to mix with.
Mind you, it has been about 12+ years since I went there regularly... before Rafael Orozco (the founder of Puertecitos) died and his wife erected a
fence/gate and charged a toll to cross her land to reach the pools (which are on public/federal land).

We were in Hot spring in Jan. Davids info. is right.Try to get there just after hign tide. If to early just wait a bit for the water level to
drop--it'll warm up. If you get there when the tide is all the way out it's to hot

Approximately 2 hours after high tide is the best time. Always check before stepping in to make sure they are not too hot.
David - it was daughter Clara that erected the fence, charges, etc. - not the wife.

Years ago...
You know we would make a trip to Puertecitos and spend money at the cantina, etc...
Then one evening we arrived (1991?) and were shocked at the gate/fence... so cheesey. I told the guy asking for the dollar per person we would be
spending plenty of beer money there... It was just a shock, and I was mad that someone would be so short sighted to turn down $10/pp in business
because they insisted on $1 to use the road... having gone there since the mid 60's to enjoy the springs which are not even on private property...
I know that was dumb of me to not enjoy the hot springs for a buck, but at the time... I was making a point, in my mind!
About 10 years later, I was passing through and wanted to just take a photo of the hot springs to put in my web site (would promote them... good for
business)... Again the guy wouldn't even let me go look at them without paying! Again I got PO'd and left! LOL!!!
