I would travel to Baja more often if the border wait time was reduced. It's just not worth heading down for the day anymore.

SENTRI wait

The wait for new apps sounds about right. Three years ago when we first applied the process from initial call to issuance took about 9 months. Even
renewals are taking longer. I called for a renewal appointment in May and they set it for September. That said, it's worth doing. The longest
SENTRI wait I've had was about 15 minutes, caused by a combination of rush hour traffic and a broken down bus in the SENTRI entrance lane two weeks
ago.

Wev'e had Sentri for three years now. We renewed in June ,6:00 am on a Sat. Yep the first time was nine months, worth every second. Takes the "what
time should we cross?" completly out of the situation.

San Luis lately has been 1.5 to 2 hrs with temps anywhere from 105 to 116 unless it's dark. Quite a few boil overs in the line. I expect the vendors
to start selling gallon jugs of coolant soon.

Here's a trick that works, even if very uncomfortable for a short time. If it looks like you're getting close to the boiling point, turn off the ac,
open the windows and run the HEATER for a few minutes. It ain't fun but if you're not moving you can step out of the vehicle for the moment and it
will dissipate some of your engine heat.

Lu Ann and I have had a Sentri pass since it started. At that time there was only one lane dedicated to Sentri at San Ysidro. They assured us that
they would only issue 4,000 passes. We renewed several times and the wait climbed from less than 5 minutes--just up and up. This month we renewed
and the nice lady told us that they had issued 70,000 passes. What the heck is the difference between 4,000 and 70,000---about 50 minutes.

We crossed a week or so ago and the wait was 55 minutes--yep! in the guaranteed speed lanes.

When I told the guy at the border that this was a record for us--he laughed and said standby--the government had sold 100,000 passes for two lanes--go
figure! AND THEY HAD NOT INCREASED THE FOLKS WHO COULD WAVE US THROUGH.

Just paid $245.00 to our wonderful government for nothing--the people to our left--free--were zipping by us like we were standing still--and we were.

Imagine private industry playing this game and staying in business--Never happen!

Makes me feel so warm and cuddly--if you don't get shot you just gotta wait.

No trailers, no campers, no R.V.s. New rules, anyone with SENTRI can ride and cross in any car with a SENTRI pass. Used to be you had to be in your
own car. Let me get this right, the car has to be part of the SENTRI program..registered with a SENTRI pass holder and with a transponder.

How do I get that BOLD stuff at the top? Bernie, My longest wait has been about 20 minuets, we
cross at all times of day, but I can see this coming. Lots of times we go directly to Otay, we almost always use the free road. Can't wait to try
2000.
