Taqueria El Jalisciense!

This is a fantastic fish/shrimp taco stand, just as you go under the yellow crossover walkway entering El Sauzal going South. It's on the East side of the road right next to a key making stand. The lady there and her family have been making them there for years. Try this place for sure - her batter mix is what makes them sooooo good.
This is a "must try" situation here...
Ask Elgatoloco - he will back me up on this.

Dude, not EVERYONE is retired.

Bob H turned us on to this place and we will forever be grateful for that. We NEVER miss a chance to stop and enjoy one or three tacos. Our MO is to stop southbound and park at the base of the bridge and walk over for a few and then when northbound pull right in and have some more. Just make sure the sun is still up, last time thru we got there at sunset and they were closing up shop.

We had to back track and have the best carne asada torta in the world.

Matt, you had the torta there? I never had anything but their fish or shrimp tacos. I must try that too!
Thanks for backing me up... yes, early retirement is fantastic, to say the least!

No torta there. There were shutting down, no mas tacos. We turned around and went the few blocks south to El Trailero.

Cannot find this place on the map (Lousy Map)
and is a torta like meat and potatoes and some other thing on top???
Kinda like a Sheppard's pie??

Taqueria El Jalisciense

To find this stand heading southbound after you pass thru the last toll booth and after you go under the overpass that would take you up Hwy. 3 to the Guadelupe valey and LAJA you will see a big yellow pedestrian overpass crossing the road. The taco stand is at the bottom of the steps on the eastside of the road, tucked next to a key shop. You have to go a bit further down the road a make a u-turn to actually get to it, unless you park on the west side and walk over the bridge, either way it is well worth the trip. Only open during daylight hours.

Elgatoloco's directions just above are perfect. A torta is decribed here...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torta buy these a little further North on the same side of the road at El Trailero

Link provided thanks to Elgatoloco in another thread.

Do you mean to say that after sundown they only serve tortas?

Sorry for the confusion.

Taqueria El Jalisciense!.............closes at sundown. So no fish or shrimp tacos there....so head for ET for a carne asada torta or cabeza if you prefer.
