WORLD IN BRIEF / MEXICO

Bodies of 6 slain officers discovered
From Times Wire Reports
November 15, 2006

Police in the western state of Michoacan found the bodies of six fellow officers who were shot in an apparent ambush in a rural area, Mexican prosecutors said.

The bodies were found after a caller reported hearing gunshots late Monday near the mountain town of Aguililla, about 125 miles southwest of the state capital, Morelia.

The area is frequently used by drug traffickers.
