Victoria is a brand name of some firewater we drank once. I keep it in the garage for starting the old Jeep.
It is clear like Everclear found in the States and about as high proof. Not a particularily great tasting liquor by itself, but sailboaters used to
use it to make many other 'homemade' liquors...such as kahlua made with Victoria and coffee, whiskey, gin, ect...all bad imatations, but cheap.

Everclear is a brand of grain alcohol.
So, if you're looking for Everclear... it's going to be "Everclear."
If you're looking for something like it, I assume the term would be: alcohol de grano

Cana, with a tilde, pronounced cania, is cane alcohol. It's available in grocery stores as well as drug stores and some liquor stores. Something
like 98% pure. It's used as rubbing alcohol here but you can drink it. I remember people making what they called vodka by adding a bunch of water.
In the old days, one could buy it on election days.
Not for me.

We used to have a drink we called the Baja 1000--half a shot of Everclear mixed with half a shot of tequila...kinda light's the old fire.

I want it for my alcohol stove. Going to Yucatan next week camping (Costa Rica airfare was twice as much). And I can't take denatured alcohol on the
plane I don't think - don't want to risk getting arrested anyway.

Character Map
Hi everybody:
Character Map is installed on most people's Windows computer..
go into Windows/all programs/accessories/system tools/character map to find any unusual characters to copy and paste (or use the alt key given at the
bottom after selecting the character desired..
If you don't see the Character Map, it probably has not yet been installed. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs.
Then click on the Windows Setup tab. Scroll down, choose System Tools, and double-click. A window with more choices will now pop up. Place a checkmark
in the box in front of Character Map. Click OK twice, and the Character Map will be installed. (The Windows CD-ROM may be needed.)

Borracho...??

I use Everclear (purchased in Montana) to make French polish for my cello.... Not that Everclear is French... but the French get blamed for many
things these days....
As Click and Clack (the Tappet Brothers.... "Car Talk" on NPR) like to say, the French copy no-one and NO-ONE copies the French!!!.... just having
fun... J'adore les Francais toujours...)
Its all just stuff and some numbers.

Well, the several liquor stores that I went to didn't know what cana was. At first I asked for cano (!), but nevertheless, I got funny looks. At a
pharmacy, when I asked for cana, and told them I wanted to burn it in a stove and make a fire, I was advised to buy a type of rubbing alcohol which
said "extremely flammable" on the label. However, it just put my matches out and wouldn't light. Not a problem - I found a great little convenience
store at an intersection where I came and went about 5 days out of 9 for coffee, and otherwise ate at restaurants, bought homemade tamales from the
truck passing through the neighborhood, or had sufficient groceries with me. In view of the security procedures I experienced, next time, I would
bring the ethyl alcohol with me. Had a great time camping on the beach and in the jungle - $5/night.
