Satellite Reception
If I purchase a satellite system here in Southern CA and take it down to Mexico, can I receive a signal there? I would bring down the box and a
portable antenna. Where can I purchase a mobile antenna on a stand?

If it is for TV (such as Direct TV) and you come to Baja Sur, you will need a larger dish. You can U2U Bajabus, he can give you all the infor for TV
and internet in BCS. He installs both and is a distributor.

why don't you just buy one here and you will be sure it works. there are plenty of people to sell you one. try losfrailes I think he can set up
anything you want.

Sorry, it was for tv. We go to Mexico for several months at a time and then return to our home in S CA. We are coming and going all the time. rather
than pay for cable that we don't use when we are gone I thought if we could go satellite for tv then we could take it with us. We also travel and stay
on the mainland of Mexico as well.

Can't speak for the Mainland but it will work here in most places if not all. Unless you're really good at aiming the dish at the satellite you'll
need to find someone to do your install for you.

Aiming and reception
Actually, unless you're really inept, you can aim the dish yourself. Lots of ND's in the RV parks do it all the time. There is a dish aiming guide
on the menu which gives you the Magnetic Azimuth and Elevation for any Zip code within the U.S. and, for locations in the upper 200 miles of Baja, you
can easily do a rough estimate of the Az and El needed. In addition, www.lyngsat.com has a guide where you can get the Azimuth and Elevation for all of the satellites at any Lat/Lon. If that is difficult you can
buy a Sat finder for under (at times WAY under) $50. For the most part, a standard size dish is fine. As you travel farther South, a Larger Dish may
be necessary. MOST of the U.S. programming is available. Exceptions are channels that DirecTV has moved to an adjacent satellite which has a tighter
footprint and can only be received in the U.S. and near the border. In addition, both Dish and Direc are putting local broadcast channels for most
cities on spotbeam transponders which can only be received within a 150 radius of the particular city.
