He wasn't new to Mexico. Should have known better.

No FM3? Then no legal lease, no basis for all the vehicles, business plans, remodeling, furniture...NADA.

Just like sheep to the wolves.

I agree Dave he could have save him a lot of grief buy having an FM3 also it is a little more difficult to deport some one that has a FM3 you have more rights and options such as hearings. unfortunately he mad that and many more mistakes that all led to his currant problems.

Been doing some reading on Mexican law. It is illegal to steal someone's possessions. Regardless, of who they are. Or, where they came from. What's worse are the people that see it done, and do nothing about it. The question is WHY? Is it FEAR or SURVIVAL.

Without an FM3 most of your possessions were in country illegally. Filing a theft report would be the same as a drug dealer claiming his stash was stolen.

Hey doct -----
How are you doing?
And your sock-puppet..... How is he doing?
I get from the above blood-and-guts visual that some here consider you're entertainment quotient , dry and deteriorated.
Gee whiz doc, I dont. I dont think we've scratched the surface of your dilema as of yet and we all should try better to understand you.

Your topic created huge response here and I would like to see it continued as a point of interest to care-less posters and serious viewers as well.

It never was un-Baja. It was interesting because viewers could relate to it, from a vulnerability standpoint anyway. We all worry about this, regardless of legal standing in Mexico. It should be discussed to a point of clarity for all.
C'mon back doc but leave your sock- puppet out of it. It caused nothing but problems.

I have'nt been back as much as would like to be because I'm finally getting reaction to my experience via numerous e-mails which I intend to use in my new web site entitled Don't go 2 Mexico. I'm working on the site now. I have some colleges that want to get involved in making a documentary about this type of terrorism that takes place everyday within a stone thow away from our border.
For the negative viewers. The deportation papers stated that I had 24 hours to get my belongings. However, I never got that paper until I was taken to the border and turned over to the U.S. side. The U.S. immigration officer advised me not to go back. If caught, I would be facing 7 years in the Mexican prison system. He said that this was all part of their stealing process.

Doc, you need to retitle this thread arrest and deportation, not illegal. It has been explained to you here that you had no rights in mexico in regards to your posessions. You were, in the eyes of the law, a smuggler. You are lucky to get out with your freedom. Your posessions were your fine. What would happen to you in the U.S. if you did the same? Time for you to move on.

Doc, this web site is for people who want to and who do go to Mexico's Baja peninsula. With that in mind, promoting not going to Mexico here, on this forum, would be counter to the goals and efforts of Doug Means and his moderators and supporters.

I have been going to Mexico (Baja California and the mainland) since 1965 hundreds of times and have NEVER had a bad experience that would have me think twice about returning.

I went there as a 'tourist' or traveler, explorer, vacationer, etc. and not to try and take over or change any place mind you. Mexico belongs to the Mexicans afterall and I am sure they all don't think a foreignor can just waltz in with a bunch of money and set up shop (with good intentions perhaps) whenever or where ever he pleases.

Spend a couple years researching an area, get to know all the people who will be your neighbors or clients, bend your plans to their desires or wishes... I believe then you would be a welcomed addition.

I am sure nobody is happy about what happened to you, it was terrible indeed... However, as you can gauge by the responces, nobody is really very surprised either.

Mexico is not America or any other country. It has its own way of doing things, some of which seem very backwards perhaps, but it is THEIR way. Let them make the changes and be patient... The election of a non PRI president two times in a row is a major change.

Telling your story here was fine, as bad news is as important as good news... but to continue an anti Mexico campaign on this site would not be welcome by most, I would imagine...

May your future be free from conflict and full of happiness.
