XM Radio - reception in Baja?
Amber and I are pretty well dependant on XM Radio for driving tunes. How far south can you pick up a signal in Baja?
Thanks,
Dan

We just drove from Central Cal to Loreto and back and never missed a tick.
(Well, sometimes when driving alongside a steep hillside on the South side it drops off for a moment, but then right back)
San Diego weather and traffic gives good border crossing times...
very helpful, and I find it quite accurate,
other Nomads claim it is not...

Am listening now to my Delphi model XM radio in Coyote Bay..all music channels are fine.
Lately, though, I have been having a daytime reception problems with our house XM.
In my vehicle I have the XM Roadie and it picks up all the channels very well anytime of day the entire length of Baja. But for some reason my Delphi
house unit loses the higher channel signals, i.e. 121-122-123-124-such as CNN, FOX, ABC, etc. during the daytime. Maybe some heat-related problems
with the antenna on the roof in direct sunlight? Has anyone else experienced this problem with their Delphi XM daytime reception?
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

I'm sitting at the computer here in Loreto and listening to my XM. Sunshine, blue skies, blue waters!!!! What could be finer ??????
and when I drive my stow & go van, I listen to (gulp)Sirus loud & clear down here!!!!! Hmmmmmm. Wonder how long I'll be listening to Sirus on
my newly purchased X Avis rental car before it quits????? It came with the car. Probably Avis forgot to cancel it? Anyone had this experience????
How long did you have the signal before it went off?????

Does the XM antenna have to be mounted on the outside of the vehicle to get reception or can it be mounted under the dash ?

Outside in clear view to the sky. When I first had mine installed they put it on the dash inside the windshield but there were too many dead spots,
so, they put it right on the hood closest to the windshield. Can go on the roof too, it's just that I have a lumber rack and use it, so it would have
blocked it when hauling.
Otherwise, you cannot ever go back to CD's after having satelite radio. I really like mine (XM).
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

If you go up under the 'B' in Baja above and locate the search box, enter 'Satellite Radio' and you should receive the same 10 threads I just did.

A friend had XM in his GM pickup and could not get reception on the East Cape ( south of La Ribera). He said it is sporadic south of La Paz. We have
Sirius and listened to '60s rock last night at the same location on the East Cape.

I'm in Cabo and XM sucks. I switched to Sirius and the reception is great. I use it primarily in the car...
