Lunch in La Paz
Yes... got the FM3!! It was late though so we decided to try the EL TASTE that is just on the corner by migracion. We were leary as the place was
very empty!
Nothing on the menu really appealed to us as we were not really famished so we asked our waiter if we could get a couple of taco's. He obliged and mi
esposo had 2 carne tacos and girlfriend and I had pollo. They came with 2 different salsa's, fresh green salad and mexican rice. They were very
tasty! Our waiter was one of the most professional waiters I have ever encountered! We 3 cerveza's and the bill came to $210 pesos.
Remember, when in Mexico, yes may be no and no may be
maybe!

I was wondering if anyone else thought that was a little expensive?
I got my menu out from my favorite little Mex restuarant down the street in Newport Beach to compare.
Carne asada taco w/guac $2.30, chicken taco $2.25, Mex beer $2.75
Comes out to $17.35 plus tax or about $20.00 for the same meal at El Taste.
How is mexico cheaper? I like La Paz a lot but Newport measures up pretty good against it.
I'm beginning to wonder if Baja won't become more expensive some day?

Price of Tacos and Beer
Taco's in Baja can still be a bargain. Most of the taco stands that are reported here, in towns all over Baja are still a bargain compared to the US.
$1 carne asada tacos, and $1.50 beer are easy to find in any town in Baja (maybe not in Cabo though). If you want a sit down restaurant with ambiance
you pay for it.
One exception I sadly have to admit. Lobster dinners are hard to find for less than $20 a plate. Recently in Cantemar (Rosarito Beach area) we were
at the Palm Restaurant and they charge for Lobsters by the oz. I kid you not! $1.50 an oz.

Tacos in Mulege square (by Demos) = fish 12 pesos, shrimp 14 pesos.
Beer is 15 pesos at Jungla.

La Perla used to be the place to go.
Unfortunately, the food and service have gone downhill recently.
Still a nice place to watch the crowds on the malecon.

Totally agree with that!! I stopped in for a late lunch and it took at least 20 minutes to get a menu, and there were only two other tables occupied
in the whole place
The people watching is excellent though

I agree about La Perla! Used to like it but the last two times, service was horrible and our meals were below average and AGONIZINGLY slow for no
apparant reason...... we won't go there again until I hear otherwise!

I loved the Perla back in the day. We used to play poker there. The open cafe was thee place for a good breakfast plus watching the watertraffic and
pedestrians.
Sad to say, I have to concur on the deteriorating service and food. Farewell, old Perla, glad we had some good times.
