Two questions for Pompano
1. A year or so ago you were doing a block wall with plaster or stucco and there were a lot of questions/suggestions about the whole project: how
did it turn out? Has it lasted this long? I'm thinking of doing something similar.
2. Just exactly what are the voices in your tackle box saying?

You could just pour cement over stacked up sandbags like Doc did and call it good! Will you be back down over the summer?

an aquaintance built a wall in Montana made of old tires, stacked and cemented over. Very sculptural, a nice organic looking wall. And old tires
have to go somewhere, right? some people will pay you to haul them away!

Santiago...
1. Yes, I finished that wall, but rather than stucco or plaster it, I decided to paint it white and call it good...for now, anyway.
2. Originally. my intention was to net-mesh and stucco the wall, leaving a few smooth areas for some tackle-box-voice-induced paintings/murals. The
damned voices won't leave me alone about this, so I may have to get going on it after the summer heat passes.
My friends, Manuel & Manueltoo, and I built that project ourselves after receiving some really laughable bids from some embarrassed contractors
who have been building for the recent arrivals. So...it was time for me to get back into the traces..shop the materials, haul what was not
delivered, pay my buddie's wages plus a bonus, eat some great lunches ala Felipa...and finish the wall for about 1/3 of what was bid.

I have built several different types of stucco wall around my house in Arizona.
If you are using block, you can simply wet it down good and apply the stucco, you don't need wire, however to get the best job, you need to grout all
the cell of the wall, this eliminates seeing the block lines, after the stucco dries.
Here is a cheap and sturdy way. Round up a bunch of pallets, and some treated poles, old telephone poles work well. Seperate your pallets into
width sizes, place poles between pallets, about every 4ft., plant poles, and nail the pallets to the poles. Cover the whole fence with felt (tar
paper), then with wire, and stucco.

Hi Pablo...thanks for a very informative post and that sounds like a good way to build stucco walls. Unfortunately pallets and poles are a 'trifle
rare' in these parts. IF you were to come across some pallets and treated poles here, they would not be free...or cheap.
