What do you base this on? Why would they update an
image that is hours old every 10 minutes? Whenever we had a rainfall here, I could see a corresponding rain band on the radar.

The current Cabo radar image I am seeing is dated 9/4/07, 19:40:35. Subtract 6 hours for La Paz time. They stopped updating at 1:40 PM, apparently,
unless you have a different source than I do.

Sorry, I thought you were saying they
were always out of date by several hours, not just this afternoon. But you're spot on. They probably lost their internet connection in the middle of
the storm at 1:40 and couldn't update.

That is no bueno Russ, that puts the hurricane just south and east of all you guys near Mulege. Perhaps the fact that it will not push directly up the
SOC could be a limiting factor hopefully.

NORTH NEAR 10 MPH...17 KM/HR...AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED
TO CONTINUE DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER
OF HENRIETTE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE SEA OF CORTEZ WITHIN THE

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 975 MB...28.79 INCHES.
COASTAL STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE
LEVELS...ALONG WITH LARGE AND DANGEROUS BATTERING WAVES...CAN BE
EXPECTED IN AREAS OF ONSHORE FLOW NEAR THE PATH OF THE CENTER OF

If the storm tracked, say along the mainland or up the middle of the gulf then I figure more water would be theoretically pushed in front of it rather
than by it crossing land and emerging back on to an area uptonow not affected by rising seas. I'm taking about La Paz in particular. If the storm
does stays over the land it will do just what John did, dump it's load of water. I worry more about that whole stretch between La Paz and Loreto more
than anywhere else.
The mountains there are such a magnet for moisture. THe arroyos have shown what created them. Don't stay or cross any arroyo during intense rainfall.
As was seen last year the whole desert is awash in places. Were talkin' VW size rocks and the force to carve out a new landscape. I'm glad the new
bridges are in place near Mulege. It shows the great hindsight Mexicans impress me with. That and their urgency to get help fast to those who need it.
I heard stories of folks out there repairing washouts stone by stone just hours after the flood. I wish we would all learn a great lesson from all
that happened. I'm confident strangers will help strangers as well if needed. Afterall, it is Baja.

My thinking is all the tropical flow that Henriette is spewing of is going over northern Mexico, whatever is pulling that will affect the storm track.
With this scenario the storm would come up the east coast of the Baja short of Loreto and head to the mainland, you like that.

Yes, Alan, power has been out for a few hours. I'm on an external power supply for the satellite modem so I got offline for awhile. It's getting dark
quickly so we're getting the candles out...
The wind has been blowing hard but hardly any rain. Cannot see the ocean as before. It feels like a typical winter day on the Oregon coast, even the
temperature dropped quite a bit when the wind started. The wind was blowing from the northwest at first, but now it is coming more from the south.
Occasional wind howling and whistling feels like a great show of nature, except we're thinking of the folks on the Cortez side and none of this must
be amusing to them.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you who are getting battered two years in a row...
