I have it. Spent two days this last week 'working' from the fairways of a golf course south of the border. Works great if you are up in the great
white north too. No roaming charges in North America. It is no longer offered.

Skip that advice. AT&T is the best US provider in Mexico by a mile. It makes use of Telcel's network.
The plan is great.

Obviousy depends on how much you use it. I`m wondering how much my 2,000 roll over minutes are worth!

Priceless
I got it for my mom...worth every penny after having no way to contact her for the first 20 years they lived in Rosarito.
Now she taunts me with calls from La Fonda to describe the view and the margaritas they're drinking.
It was started by Cinglular....AT&T took it over and elimlinated the plan apparently.
I do not know the legalities of taking over someone else's phone contract, but if you can, it's a great deal.
Has there been any other comparable service from other provider?
Mom always told me to be different - Now she says...Not THAT different

If AT&T does not work for you, neither would Telcel, Movistar, etc. Perhaps you don't have international roaming?

I have an original North America plan and it worked perfectly in Bahia Asuncion this past summer, in fact full bars with their TelCel repeater smack
dab in the middle of town.
Had service almost all along the way there too.
We mostly use it at our Beach House below San Felipe, it works great. I have rollover minutes in the thousands also.
Get it. I belive i'm paying right $65.09 per month. Very conveniant.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

I got Verizon's North American Plan last April and it's worked great in La Paz and Cabo. But in recently checking, the plan has been eliminated.
Seems Slim Carlos had something to do with it?
However, I'm told it's grandfathered and Verizon will eat the roaming charges as long as plan is in place

To date I agree. When I am in Ensenada the logo switches to Telcel or Movestar and I can call local or in the states. When I am in Yuma the logo
switiches to AT&T. However, I do not use the cell phone that much so I will wait and see how I like it.

I have AT&T home service under the new AT&T and get 100 minutes a month to call into Mexico along with the package of caller I.D.,free local
and 200 minutes long distance for $49.00 dollars. I use Nextel radio and telephone service in Mexico and have used it without problems in Maztalan,
Los Mochis, Rosarito, Ensenada, Tecate, San Luis, Yuma, etc. Have not tried it yet far into Baja so it will be a new test when I drive down to Cabo
La Paz. Will have to check out these other plans mentioned if I start having problems when I travel deeper into Baja, but Mainland was no problem.

I've been on the plan now 5 years, they don't offer it any longer, AT&T lost to much money. The way to keep it like I have is "NEVER" renew the
plan when your contract expires. It's your's forever.
I was informed by an AT&T sales person as well as a customer service person, the contract or plan is yours until YOU change it. I had a 2 year
contract and I'm on the plan now 5 years as I stated. Free calls to and from Mexico, Canada, all "North America"
Don't pass up the opportunity

Loboron and JZ are right, the ATT North America plan is hands down the best and cheapest. They stopped offering to new users sometime back so if you
get your hands on it get it and keep it. It has worked everywhere I have tried to use it, and I drive the "Trail" regularly. Absolutly seamless with
the US service.

Does anybody know if a AT&T/Cingular GO cell phone with a prepaid, pay-as-you-go card work in Baja Sur, as long as the card has not expired?

I have AT&T/Cingular GO cell phone prepaid phones and these do not work for me south of the border. Though perhaps someone else has had a
different experience.
