tj police station locations?
it would be handy to know where the tijuana police stations are located. any one know?
minnow stated that he has been stopped often on the free road for mordida. if i find myself in that situation i would like to know i was following
the cop in the right direction to a station where i can contest or pay my fine.
fdt: thanks for your latest directions from the border to the free road.

Pretty good question, I'll look into making you a map or something.

When you hear someone say "I am going to follow you to the police station" they don't mean they are actually going to the police station, its a
saying. It just means that you have the patience to wait and not pay the cop a mordida at that moment. No cops are gong to take you to the police
station unless its something serious. You have the right to receive a ticket and pay later if the offense is real. Insist on your rights, be firm if
you are correct, and the police will leave you alone quickly.

#1: is this true and if so, is it generally known. How long do you have to pay the fine.? In person or by mail?
#2: I have heard that on the back of the ticket is the address in Chula Vista to mail the payment to - is this true?
http://www.sindicatura.gob.mx/ This link is to the website of sindicatura, select 'english' and select 'Tourist Leagal Guide'. This is a .pdf
file and you can print this out and take with you. It has the locations of the police stations and other info - but is a little dated I think.
Anyone else know how accurate this is?

Is there any case where cops have a legal right to ask for instant payment or require you to go to a station??
I always understood that you don't have to go to a station to pay a fine for a typical traffic violation. Cop is supposed to give you a ticket that
you can pay later via mail or at a station or court. Seems to me that if they ask for anything else, you should be a ble to tell them to stuff it.

Isn't receiving a ticket and paying later by mail a Tijuana thing. Didn't think that worked anywhere else.
(sorry, some of us never go to or thru Tijuana)

Hit the link that Santiago posted, then click on English. Pretty informative.......taken from the Infractions section....
You should always politely insist on a writting citation Tijuana citations (tickets) are bilingual and can be paid in San Ysidro, California as well
as in Mexico.

The odds of this being a real issue is funny to me...I can make a mistake and have made a couple driving, but for this to happen on a four lane road
is nonsense. Just don't break the law...I mean it is stupid enough to break the law in the US...don't you see how childish it is, to do it in a
country that has no respect for you or the law...
You people out there, that break the law and buy your way out of it should be shot. You are the damn reason for the corrupt cops to start with...
Edit...sometimes I blow myself away with my un-necessary crappy words

Is there an equivalent organization to Tijuana's Sindicatura in Tecate?

you can pay a citation by mail. the information below is from a baja website that lists addresses to send checks for different areas where you might
get a ticket.
i drive in baja in a way that i would NOT get a ticket from the CHP, so if i were pulled over in baja i know what it would be for. if my patience was
outlasted by the cop and his next scare tactic would be him asking me to follow him to a station, i want to know i am driving in the right direction.
i was pulled over one time at the top of the hill in tj. i was directed to turn right, off the main road. then directed to drive a bit further down
this road, i think to get out of view from the main road. it was scary then, i was stupid, it will not happen again.
from mybajaguide website:
If you are stopped by a police officer for a traffic violation, you should always politely insist on a written citation that you could pay either at
the police station or by mail. Tickets issued in Tijuana can be paid in the USA with a check or money order made out to: H. Ayuntamiento de Tijuana,
416 West San Ysidro Blvd. Suite “L”, No. 725, San Ysidro, CA 92143. Tickets issued In Rosarito can be paid in the USA with a check or money order made
out to: H. Ayuntamiento de Rosarito, P.O. Box 439060 San Diego, CA 92143-9060. Tickets issued in Ensenada can be paid by sending a check or money
order made out to: Municipio de Ensenada, PMB 147 P.O. Box 189003 Coronado, CA, 92178-9003. For San Felipe, Tecate and Mexicali, traffic fines must be
paid at the police station.
