Sindicatura/Effective?

I have received an e-mail from Larry Smith/pharmbouy who was nice enough to pass on a copy of a Sindicatura decal model along with several hints and
items that may help me in any potential problem situation in traveling in Baja.

I am interested in comments that members may have on their past experiences. Am I likely to have difficulty during a trip it I adhere to traffic
laws? Have any members received a better or more considerate treatment when they displayed a Sindicatura decal or information indicating their
knowledge of such a program? Looking forward to hearing from anyone and their opinions. Salud

Hi pelone....Welcome to BajaNomad.

Sindicatura is a joke. Nothing short of a recent foto of you and the current president will cut slack.
Adhereing to traffic laws is what everybody tries to do but, unfortunately, it isn't a factor in law enforcement. What is a factor is the color of
your skin and the content of your plates. They target you because you're North American, of course rich and stupid.
Welcome to Mexico. They love you here.

Stop all the sensationalism. If it was 1/10 as bad as you exaggerate it to be, you wouldn't live here.

Get real.

The last time I was was south of the border (12/17/07), I was threatened with having my vehicle impounded for using it for "improperly towing" another
vehicle.
TW paid the fine, but the police initally told me that we would leave my Jeep on the side of the street while they took me to the station - at least
that is what they threatened me with, and I told them in Spanish that they knew my Jeep wouldn't be there when I returned. What b.s.

These police showed me the actual violation in their books, but they *knew* that I could pay the violation on the other side of the border. No, I
did not get their badge numbers, because I was really peeed at the situation, and I was starting to come down with a cold and I had a plane to catch
48 hrs. later at LAX.
