News has me freaked

I've been going to Las Gaviotas, just south of Rosarito, for years and we're getting ready to go for my brother-in-law's wedding. I've read some reports recently about carjackings that has got me a little freaked out. So . . .
1. Is there any truth to any of these reports, and
2. Is there anything we can do to make ourselves less likely targets on the road/stay safe in general.

Thanks in advance from a newcomer to the site.

The reports are true. Just go in a group of people and don't drive at night. If you see police lights behind you and are not sure they are policemen don't pull over until you reach someplace safe with lights and people.

Read this currant thread...

One good thing is it will not be crowded...but then the police will have fewer targets to rob from...have a good time:lol:

Don't drive at night, drive slowly and don't drink'n drive. I've recently heard that TJ police are having fun with their new toy, the Breathalizer.
Above all, have a good time.

By the way...Welcome to BajaNomad. Give us a report when it's over.

How long do you think it will take A TJ cop to figure out he can pour a little Tequila down the breathing hole before the test.

I'd think it a very good excuse to avoid having to go to a wedding.:bounce:

I was all set to do just that and then he asked me to perform the ceremony for him.

Seconding fdt's advice.

We traveled from Rosarito to TJ to the doctor today.

No problem. The road was clear and traffic was light.
