If you want to keep up to date with walmart and what some locals are saying you can look at this thread, it's in spanish but I'm sure you can figure
it out. Some very interesting comentaries about CCC, Aramburo, Soriana, Ley and others.

The land is cleared and construction has started. We will keep our City Club membership and not join Sams club, it does not replace City Club for us.
Walmart we will probably use if they lower their prices, they are high in Cabo compared to here.

He thinks he's posting on a Mexican forum, or he's showing off.

If he thinks he is showing off then I suggest that he go back to class and practice some more...

I welcome any new commercial choices in La Paz - although I think the Cabo COSTCO and HOME DEPOT have been great disapointments - still whenever we
are forced to visit Cabo, they are must-sees.
We didn't bother renewing our City Club memberships as we could never find anything worth buying.
I note CCC is building some significant add-on at Colima . . . must be preparing for new challenges.

I was in Leys yesterday which is just down the street from the new Walmart, and it has been refurbished and the veggie section was great and good
pricing. It seems they are getting ready for the competition.

Not directly on point, but...
Did you know that WalMart is the largest private employer in Mexico? Interesting that an American company is providing more jobs for Mexicans in
Mexico in job-poor Mexico than the Mexican business model can.

It's 50% owned by WalMart US, which joint ventured with them in 1991 and brought in the big box business model. Most of their growth was after WalMart
US came in. Before that they were the Superama and Vips.

And did you know Walmart was paying their Mexican employees in coupons that could be redeemed at their store? This was just ruled illegal.
I only recently started shopping (and only occasionally) at the Walmart in Ensenada. I go there now only because they have a pretty darn good
selection of fruits and vegetables...things I can't find at the farmer's market or in other stores.

Mega Stores in Mexicali regularly has baskets of food priced to compare their and WalMart prices. On these items, Mega always has the lower prices.
