Hi Doug
Just another lost soul looking for a place to hang my hat.
Hey know what,fishin needs to have its own section,there,s no hunting to speak of in baja anyway,few birds up north,gecko,s down south 
What do you think?

I think that although the territory for hunting is rather limited in Baja -- compared to fishing -- it still is an activity sought
by visitors to the peninsula. Although the game sought is different, the two activities are essentially the same activity -- but with different
tools.
If you're still adamant about it, I'll take it under advisement.

Just me again Doug.....Look at the counts under views,up for fishin and way down for hunting.
Fishing is THE main attraction in Baja,thats what started all this maddness in the beginning,just a thought

Without a
doubt, fishing is what jump-started the development of Baja, and fishing is what jump-started Baja bulletin board activity online.
As you mention, there's very little interest in hunting... probably not enough to warrant it's own forum. Since fishing is hunting fish, and hunters
also tend to be fisherman, I thought it appropriate to combine the two.
You still disagree, though? Is it offensive to have other hunting information in a forum with much interest in fishing in particular?
I'm interested in your thoughts/perspective.

great hunting
There is awsome bird hunting in southern baja during the winter months. When the wind makes fishing impossible the hunting takes up the slack nicely.

i have wanted to hunt black brandt
in baja ever since i first heard about it in 1980 around san quintin. only thing is there's no guides running trips these days, plus the whole permit
process to take a gun into mex. is wacko, don't even try it.
but, if anyone knows how to hook up with some goose hunting in SQ, e me!

Hunting in Baja
Remember the posts about the Sea of Cortez being fished out ? Not exactly true but a lot less fish than 10 or 20 years ago according to some.
If American hunters start coming to Baja and shooting everything it won't take long at all before this miniscule peninsula(relatively speaking) is
depleted of more of it's natural resources. Which is what most of us love about it isn't it. The scenery and diversity of wildlife both on land and
sea.
Let's save this place for photography unless you are starving and can't live without some Mexican bird for dinner. When you are here.
And as Mike said, it's a 3 day pain in the --- to get licenses. Stick with the U.S. game, it's probably better fed anyway.

Hunting licenses in mexico are NOT hard to get. I walked into a sporting goods store in los mochis and purchased mine over the counter and since
they are good for life all I do now is get the appropiate stamps for the game I am doing to be hunting. I get my rabbit, dove and quail stamps in la
paz and my duck stamps in los mochis every year. Shotgun and 22shells are sold over the counter in la paz and at numerous sporting goods stores over
on the main land. All you have to do is register your guns with the military and obtain a transportation permit. Heck the state of california is
getting as bad if not worse than mexico. fishin rich

The Future of Hunting
I know this might sound a little futuristic, so please bear with me. State-licensed hunting expedition companies could take customers out on
mountain-sheep hunts, for example, that use cameras shaped like guns. The more expensive these gun/cameras are, the better. Remember, this is a
big-boy?s sport. These gun/cameras would have internal computerized sensors that determine the specifications of each shot. (There would be a limited
number of shots) After the safari, the hunters can submit their film cartridges to a licensed developer where pertinent information, such as the ram?s
physical data and shot distance, would be included on the prints. (Prints can be large and suitable for framing.) The prints would contain a pressed
seal much like what is on our souvenir birth certificates. A small photo of the hunter could also be superimposed in the corner of the print,
providing he took a picture of himself or had somebody take a picture of him with his camera/gun. The owner of the print would then have bragging
rights to having excellent hunting abilities. After the safari, the hunters could be treated to expertly prepared mutton. There, they can tell tall
tales as they feast.

The best of vacations.
With this method, there would be so much time saved in not having to retrieve the game in this harsh baja environment, you would have time to go see
some islands and maybe even catch one or two fish. This is a good idea and saves yall time and MONEY! No hunting Baja wildlife unless it's in Tijuana
!
