road from tecate to ensenada
We are going to Baja Sur and would like to bypass Tijuana and go thru Tecate and back road down to Ensenada . There will be four rigs and the biggest
is a 34ft fifth wheel. How is the road? We are no hurry!!!

fifth wheel. We are no hurry!!! There are a few wineries on that road we would like to visit. How is the road???

like the rest. there are some rough areas east of the wineries as you climb/drop the grade. other than that you'll be glad you took it.

Last fall we I traveled the road with an F350 and 22' trailer.
Friends with a 33' RV followed us.
The road does go through some hills and curves and a few spots of rough asphalt but it is easily driveable with your rigs.
Not as bas as some other sections farther south.
The Tecate' border crossing is fairly stress-free and if you are planning to overnight at Potrero before you cross, you can get you FMTs the afternoon
before you cross (with a single vehicle parked on the US side and walk across).
That way you don't have to worry about parking the rigs near the border - you can drive right through the next morning.
The bank is directly across from immigration so it's very easy and again - no stress.
Once you pass the border continue heading straight and take the second left then the first right and you will be on the road to Ensenada ! These are
the easiest turns for your larger rigs.

The road is in good shape although watch out for some road construction signs along the way. I drove it a few days ago with the orange cones being the
only issue...

BG up there is right. Miles of cone-zone and road construction. That doesn't make it a bad road, just that you may have a couple of waits. It's
all well under control.
By the way, there's a new official rule. You're allowed to have a cold Pacifico while you're stopped waiting for the traffic to clear.

There's another new official rule. Pull off the road and have a Pacifico when the urge hits.

Dennis,
I reported this thread two days ago to try and get it merged with it's namesake.... guess therer is nobody at the helm anymore .....
There also have been numerous posts that are in the wrong catagories .... have been reporting those also, alas no response from those in control....
