Just talked to Shari, and she said it has been raining for a few days, and there was a thunder and lightening storm going on while we were talking.

We time it wrong every year. It seldom rains in BA and last year the big rain was in Oct. This year we were there in Oct so it decided to rain in Nov and we are not there. :fire:

We really want to be there when it rains! Oh well, the wild flowers that only grow after it rains should be great once again.

Also, it will keep the city workers busy for quite a while remvoing the mud for the main street---job security.

I sure hope it does not do to the new pavement on the road coming in what last years big rain did to last years new pavement that is still being repaired.

Diane

it has rained all day pretty much...sometimes extremely hard...alot of water has come down and the roads here are washed out coming into town and along the coast roads...darn, we wanted to go eat lobster in san hipolito...the streets here are covered in mud again and the side streets are washed out with all the water pipes exposed...nasty. I havent heard about the GN area but wouldnt be surprised if the vados are closed but they drain pretty quick and it is only raining lightly now...much will depend if it rains more tonight. Is it raining anywhere else?

Jeeez sounds like what the hurricanes do to us here. Hoping all the problems are small and no one's injured. What's the Canadian word for a downpour? Some thing like, "Good heavens that's a bloody mess, eh!"

Do you know yet if it took out any of the new pavement or any of the repaired pavement from last year?

Well, one possible positive for the coast road---after it washed out last year they fixed and graded it and it was the best it was all year.

Wish they would bury those water pipes deeper---some of them pop up above ground level without any washout.

Wish we were there.

Shari, sounds like a nasty situation in BA....would LOVE to be STUCK there in my camper... hahahahaha

Hope things get cleared up quickly for all of you there. I'm sure even some of the new paved road was washed out too.

Last year the one big rain made a real mess out of parts of the then new road----some places are not completely repaired yet. Besides washing it out where the arroyos are and the drain pipes were not large enough, when the water poured our of the mountains, there was like a new river formed along the side in some areas and it just dug out the dirt undermining the edge of the road.

So, in some areas of this years new pavement they built little curbs along the side of the road---we guess to try and control where the water runs off the road.

It will be interesting to see how the new part held up---

If it keeps raining hard once a year, we may never have a completely paved road.
