Puerto Penasco/Rocky Point

I know this isn't Baja related but I tried posting in Off Topic and got no response.
I'm living in Tucson, AZ now and Baja is too far away for an overnight. I need to get away and put my tootsies in the sand!
Anybody know a nice small motel in town in Rocky Point?

If you really wish to put your toosies in the sand, try the Playa Bonita hotel. It's right on the sand, and at high tide, the restaurant is about 75 feet from the warm ocean water.
http://playabonitaresort.com/
Last time there, they were fairly inexpensive to stay and eat, but the drawback is that they are about 2 miles from the malecon, and you'd have to drive there. When you are there, be sure to eat at the Faro restaurant...best chiles rellenos and flan in all of Mexico.

Just went down to the "Rock" on a motorcycle rally and stayed at Penasco Del Sol if you have AARP or AAA it costs $89 dollars night and will compare to any Hyatt on the Beach in San Diego area. Great staff and clean rooms with great views of the ocean and very clean beach. Just across the street is a place called "Max's" and the food is great. Reminds me of the way a few cafe/bar/coffee shops used to be along Mission Beach once upon a time. Now, are you ready for this----it is owned by an American and he let's you call home for 5 minutes to tell everyone you made it for "free," yep I said free. He also let's you use a computer to check your emails for no more than 10 minutes or just 5 minutes if others are waiting for "free," yep I said it again "free." He has some great stories and you right at home as soon as you strike up a conversation with him. Great hamburgers, pizza, steaks, chicken, etc. and breakfast you do not want to miss remember I told you so. They also have a Christian man that rents a vacation package down their and loans you one of his three golf carts to go down to the beach or downtown it is your call no charge for this and he has a computer for you to use also. He has a five bedroom to rent for $140 a night and each room has it's own bathroom. Main room has a 52 inch T.V. and a nice patio, BBQ, Bar area out your back door of this 5 bedroom rental that goes with it. You park you vehicle or vechicle inside the complex. I will try to post some photos of it here if I can get the hang of it. I sent Ken some photos but some were these photos had 6 of Ken's ex-girlfriends being naughty for the camera and I can not post those here. Ken, does all of you ex-girlfriends behave badly when they get around swimming pools (Bike Rally is like New Orleans FunTime for 2 strong party days first week of November)??? The road was all good except for a small section where they are trying to widen it but most of the setting at 65 with no problems and police do not hazzel the tourists. A lot of "Zonies" down there and you will feel right at home. Take care and if you U2U me with your email I will get the photos out to you except for Ken's personal set of photos. 777 - great info, will you send me the contact for that rental?? i can get him some biz!
also i'd like to see pics too.

n7369p at qwest dot net

thx!! i would have loved to do RP on the bike when i had mine, i have access to a friends road machine maybe next year. they had it weekend before the RP fly in, next year the fly in will be a hoot too.

RP is an hour away from PHX by air. with avgas the way it is these days it is starting to make a lot of economic sense over baja, sad to say but true.

Buenos dias, Capt Mike...
Very nice photos of the updated Puerto Penasco. Last time we were there was three years ago, and used to go twice a year until all the development started to happen. My sleepy little fishing/oyster village got turned into a Puerto Vallarta!:fire::fire::fire::fire:

can't blame you there Udo.
we quit doing RP around 1980 when i discovered baja and by the time i was flying with medicos regularly starting 1985 it became baja exclusively.
RP went crazy thx to a certain Tucson based developer who is behind most of the beach development.

well i love mexico and with RP so close it may become my new quickie get a way by air, saving a lot of dinero in the process.

Asked Captain Mike to post some photos I sent him here on "The Rock" and a great motorcycle rally. He can not post Ken's ex-girlfriends pictures as Ken wants to keep them to himself:lol:. The weather was really great the first week of November at about 83 in day and 62 at night. Still used the jaccuzzi each night and a nice nightcap nearby while enjoying the warm water. I had not been here since early 1981 when the train was running from Mexicali to Puerto Penasco. The San Diego Museum Society use to also go down on this train, we had 3 twentyfive gallon water coolers filled with a special tropical drink mix and got the whole group roaring drunk it was hilarious.
