Getting Cash using my ATM card in Maneadero?
I needed more cash than I brought on my last trip and went to the bank in Maneadero. I got 3000 Pesos (229US) they charged over $50 US for a fee! What
is the best way to get cash in that area?

Sure it wasn't 50 pesos? Which is still way high
And didn't you have the option to cancel?
Banamex charges me .75 per transaction.

I used to get cash at that atm all the time and only remember being charged a fee by my bank (BofA) for an international transaction - and at that it
was only a monthly fee.

The Bancomer just before the Bufadora curve is my favorite place in Baja to get ATM cash.
Very easy to use, easy parking, never been charged much of a fee, and only by my bank.
Are we talking about the same place?
And yeah, gotta be pesos, not greenbuck$

ARe you sure you didnt inadvertently somehow choose a "cash advance" option with your credit card? Some ATM cards are also credit cards.
Cash advances typically charge at least 2% of the amount AND interest begins accruing pretty shortly and steeply.

Who is your US bank? You'll also be also assessed a fee by them.
Bank of America has a relationship with Santander and Scotia. No fees charged by either bank.
Wells Fargo, I believe, has the same arrangement with Bancomer.
Citibank owns Banamex.
Best bet is to talk to your bank if it's not one of the above. If you get the run around, ask to speak to a Mexican-American agent. They KNOW.

I am sure Nomads appreciate a humble Newby. There have been entrances that were much worse. Don't worry.
At least, you are being vigilant with your finances. It is good to be on top of things, especially in Mexico. Sometimes the anticipation of error can
cause ourselves to err, because we are looking so hard for it. Keep looking. One day it will pay off in your favor.
Bank fees are hard to navigate. You know you are getting screwed, but you usually aren't enjoying the experience.

I lived and had a bussiness repairing the yachts in Cabo during the '80's. I returned with my family in 91 and got a real job with So. Calif Edison.
Now I am 55 and preparing to retire with a place near Colonet and somewhere rural in the U.S.

ATM fees from foreign withdrawals
I'm curious how many nomads are charged an additional fee when they withdraw pesos from an ATM in Mexico?
I'm with a very small, local bank. No affiliation with any Mexican banks that I'm aware of but have never been charged a fee. In early November, for
1500 pesos I was charged $118. only.
My previous bank also didn't charge a fee and was also not a national institution.
