Where would you be going? Unless you're deep in the mountains you wouldn't ever be more than an hour or so from cell phone coverage. Baja has changed. It isn't like being on the moon anymore.

Here's a place in San Diego. Baja Pits recommends them for the racers and pit crews. They might ship it to you in Baja.

Don't use Globalstar! Not a nice company. They're coverage is lame as well.
I've heard Irridium is much better.Still very expensive.

My AT&T cell worked almost everywhere in Baja, just get International calling turned on.
