Anyone in Las Tunas, Todos Santos?
We are building in Las Tunas & our builder was scheduled to prepare the site this week in order to break ground by the weekend. Lately he has
been a little quiet, and we're wondering if anyone was in the neighbourhood to check to see if anything has been done on our lot .....
Thanks!

You really need to personally supervize your build .
Otherwise you will probably be disapointed.

Wow, I may be new to this board but I was able to successfully predict who would be the first responder and exactly what you would say. Thanks Ron!

Ron happens to be correct.
If you are not there or do not have a trusted person who is there to supervise, things will likely be fairly frustrating at times.
Especially frustrating if you are anticipating things to occurr on your schedule.
To have the need to ask your question when your builder has just/almost begun seems a bad sign to me.
But, good luck finding someone to check on things for you; maybe you can pay Ron ??

If your builder does NOT have a digital camera, get him one.
He sends you pictures, then you pay.
It worked for us.

Our new house is almost complete. We got weekly updates with photos by email. We made a few calls to get some details clear, but most things were done
by email. You need to know that you can trust and communicate well with your builder. Good luck, and try to stay calm. Mike

You'll be way ahead to be there as much as possible, especially in the early stages. A lot of times plans turn out to be a good place to start.
There's lots of decisions to be made, not everything makes it down on paper. I do remodeling in California and always supervise additions, I mostly
do kitchens and bathrooms. I've heard lots of horror stories from friends and relatives about unsupervised construction both here in the US and in
Baja.

Thanks to Marie-Rose for checking things out for us.
Since we can't be down there supervising construction as much as we would like, we decided to hire Wendy Rains to oversee things for us. She's only
been on the job a day & already progress has been made!

CaboRon gave you good advice. In fact I think that is true in general with any builder, anywhere you go but especially in Latin America where I have
built several homes over the years in three different countries. You just have to stay on top of the building materials, construction and quality.
If you can get your builder to agree (and follow) a digital photo update schedule that would greatly improve your chances but there is no beating
being there yourself...

BajaBruceFan,
I think your in good hands with Wendy. I mentioned her in a seperate thread as the author of the Building in Baja news letters. She comes highly
recommended.
