small propane canisters

Hello,

Does anyone know if you can get those small propane canisters that screw onto a coleman light or some camping stoves near San Jose?? We tried Walmart, no go at least the day we were there. Someone mentioned trying a RV store in San Jose. We are going to work on our house and we don't have our solar set up yet. so camping equipement it is. The canisters we are looking for are about a liter in size.
Thanks,
Greta

I purchased some a few years back. At that time I was only shopping at Home Depot, Costco and Mega Market. Should be able to find them there, if they are in stock.
I'm not familiar with the RV store.

Hi Greta

I am in Ensenada and have not been able to find those canisters. I suggest you take them with you from the USA or buy a small stove to which you can conect a smal gas tank (thise are called minas de gas and are about 2ft tall). you can get propane refilled in many places

Buy a larger tank and get a hose with an adapter.
Coleman makes one - Walmart etc.
Almost any Baja hardware stores should have the parts to make your own.

Any good size hardware store in California should sell those small propane cylinders. I have several which I refill out of a 20lb tank, the kind you use for your barbeque. Most larger stores will sell the adaptor you need to refill the small canister. I got mine at Harbor Freight.
Make sure to freeze the small cylinder before you refill it. Holds more gas that way.

As far as Baja goes, I have seen them in hardware stores here in Loreto and even the sporting/fishing supply store sells them.

Here's a nifty little tool for refilling small canisters:

Sorry, I didn't notice above where these were refered to.
