Dollars to Pesos
Is this not great for us that live off the dollar! Almost 30-40 percent more buying power in Mexico. Is this a bad thing or could it be a bad thing?
Anybody but CaboRon can answer.

good for Americans, bad for Mexicans. Especially for those that have rent, etc, leases written in dollars....they are losing their spaces right and
left. They earn pesos but have to pay in dollars. Works out to about a 30% increase. Store fronts are closing up, people having to move to new
homes.

With Pesos at 13.7 it makes it quite profitible to be in the Baja at present. Go to the bank and exchange $100US and get 13,700 Pesos. Take those
Pesos to the local money exchange and cash them in for US Dollars at about 12.5, you get $125US back. Quite profitible. This all takes not even an
hour. In San Felipe most of the Mexican vendors are still working on 10 to 1. Again, life's good in Baja.

bajajorge,
you are a regular George Soros, eh? I think Soros has better math skills.
fyi, jorge, 13.7 x 100 = 1370
1370/12.5 = 109.6
p.s. don't quit your day job, doubt your currency trading is going to pay the bills

My math might be off, but it's still a profit. I'm only a nickel and dimer, but
I bet Soros or that other billionaire, ya know, the one with the funny hairdo started small too.

I am certain there is a different position of the impact for every person in Mexico. I share with you that the business that I am 50% owner of in
Mainland that deals only in pesos and has about 60% of gross income earned from Gringos is doing wonderful, thank you very much. My costs of business
have NOT went up that much and thanks to the better than could have been dreamed of exchange rate we have 25% more business from this time last
year.....sometimes volume is a wonderful thing. By the way, my partner and employees all natives are doing equally as well with the depressed peso.
Where it would be a problem are those places that have just become part of South Los Angeles and tie everything to the dollar....much more common in
Baja than Mainland....although my primary love will always be Baja.
When searching for the end of your rainbow you only have until dusk....
