This quote comes to mind...

"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware."

Sounds like you have things in perspective Diver, as others have said, this will be a trip you will never forget and something good will blossom from it if it hasn't already. Nomad generosity never ceases to amaze me.

As noted by his 4:15 p.m. (Pacific Time) post to this thread, he's received the wrong part, and is still stranded - along with wife, kids and dogs - in El Rosario.

Hope El Rosario doesn't prove to be a "geographical oddity".

Diver is not answering or posting as soon as he could for a very good reason. Just to top things off, his laptop died so he is using the internet cafe.

Hope the news is better today.

Go Nomads !!
The rescue continues !!

Bajagringo has followed the post and when he saw that a part for my truck needed to get from TJ to me in El Rosario, he jumped right in.
He has driven north to TJ and now will overshoot his planned destination of San Quintin to bring us the part. He just called from the road and should be here within the hour !

I have to run and find the mechanic and plan to test the truck tonight if all goes well.
Keep all of your fingers crossed for us please !

We have received the most wonderful offers,
from Pompano offering to come and get us - and he means it !
We just never figured we would be here this long.
To offers to drive the family north to offers to trailer the truck and even offers to send money.
Nomads are amazing and wonderful and .... I have to run but hope to have good news soon.

Sending positive thoughts your way and making offerings to the part's god.

Oh, I heard there is a Ford Dealership in Washington who is closing up shop----they don't want to be there when you return.

We are on our way home now, Loreto for a couple of days, so Diver and family, keep cool and enjoy being together wherever you are. It was a great trip for us, sorry yours delayed so we could not hook up. By the way, San Javier mission rocks, but its a heck of a drive up there for sure, 4x4 suggested with decent ground clearance and not sure how your big truck would make it up that road. But you may want to try it sometime, Ben, Edder and Tia Juanita send our best wishes. Keep on trucking.

Bajagringo showed up with the new part yesterday afternoon and we got it instaqlled with the help of the ocal mechanic. I am glad to say that Bajagringo looks nothing like his mug shot !!

Unfortunately the part did not fix the problem - strike 3 or 4 or 5 !!

We are now giving up on trying to fix the truck and are looking for ways to get back to the US with the truck and trailer, wife, 2 kids and 2 dogs.

We have received some very generous offers for rides and towing and I guess it's time to call in all offers. Our Telcel number in Baja is 616-163-9450 and I will check the board again in an hour or so. We cannot access email from this computer so Nomads is all we have.

If nothing works out by later today, we will call Abe's towing in TJ and see if they'll come get us.

Thanks for all the suggestions, support etc.

Hi Diver - I have watched this thread and been waiting to hear the good news that you were on the road again. So very sorry to hear that you are not. I wish I could help in some way, but I'm way too far away. I just wanted to let you know that if you were closer to Todos Santos, I'd jump right in.

Please keep us all posted. Buena Suerte. Kathy
