TRAILER TOWED BACK

Quote:
Driver, The wife and i will be driving your way on Monday
1-19-09 on are back from San Ignacio to Victorville Ca. Will be going down on Thursday 1-15-09, can stop and talk about it. let me know if this might work. we drive 06 Dodge cummins
Thought I'd start a new thread just to make sure the message gets out instewad of buried in the original post.

Bajagringo showed up with the new part yesterday afternoon and we got it instaqlled with the help of the ocal mechanic. I am glad to say that Bajagringo looks nothing like his mug shot !!

Unfortunately the part did not fix the problem - strike 3 or 4 or 5 !!

We are now giving up on trying to fix the truck and are looking for ways to get back to the US with the truck and trailer, wife, 2 kids and 2 dogs.

We have received some very generous offers for rides and towing and I guess it's time to call in all offers. Our Telcel number in Baja is 616-163-9450 and I will check the board again in an hour or so. We cannot access email from this computer so Nomads is all we have.

If nothing works out by later today, we will call Abe's towing in TJ and see if they'll come get us.

Thanks for all the suggestions, support etc.

I'm in San Diego, Diver has been to my house in Mission Bay if secure storage is needed for the trailer.

Diver, the truck and trailer left El Rosario this morning on tow. Talked to them at 9:30Am and were at San Quintin. Will talk with them again when they get to Ensenada. Mrs. Diver, kids and dogs are also on the road with the Trotters.
For future needs of anyone, excellent tow service is beeing provided by Enrique Salcedo Towing from San Quintin, phone (616) 165-2280, cel is (616) 163-0088, reasonable rates and you can pay them with a credit card.

I did not want to chime in during Diver's ordeal because I was not in a position to help and did not wish to clutter up the request for help forum. Now that Diver and family have been rescued all I want to say is Baja Nomad has some great folks who really care. I swear I am proud to be a member.

Very cool. Thanks fdt for keeping us updated. Dern is hoping that when the problem with Diver's truck is solved, that he'll follow up with the info.

My dad always said that FORD stood for First On Race Day, but we want to be prepared for when the fix or repair daily jinx should hit us.

If there's another part we need and don't have, then we want to add it to the tool box.

Well at least they are making it back safe. It's probably some stupid problem that can only be resolved by folks in the know.

btw, did he ever put a code reader on that thing? I'd like to know what it says.

Mood: Let's have a BBQ!

Dropped off the part on Thursday afternoon and hung around to wait to see if that would fix it. Really was hoping for a happy ending to this and see the family be able to get on with their vacation but it was not meant to be. I put my code reader on Diver's truck but it wouldn't read. Just kept telling me "link error". I have never been confused with a good mechanic so I was just left wondering if the problem was connected somehow...

The upside for me was that I got to meet Ira, Pam and the rest of the Diver clan - what nice folks they are! I really hope they get the problem fixed and life gives them a super great vacation next time around. They really deserve it!!!

The 6.0 starting in 2003 switch to the obdII CAN protocol.

You will need to update your scanner.

I waited at the hwy just as you enter Tijuana after talking to Enrique Salceda on his cel and he told me the were between Rosarito and Tijuana. At 2:20Pm I spoted the tow truck with the red F350 on top and trailer in tow and got on the road and guided them to the pre arranged parking lot downtown were we were met by a fellow Nomad that was there to tow the trailer back. So at this time all has been done, they are at the border wait pulling the trailer and will return to get the truck to the downtown parking as soon as the Ford dealers re open on Monday morning.
