We passed by there, but we were on the internet and loggin onto Nomads, so I was not able to offer any help. I'm so sorry you are going through all
this. It makes me feel so good to see all the help you are getting. Anyway, I probably wouldn't have recognized you with your full beard. I count my
lucky stars every time I make it down and back in my junky vehicles. I'm sure my time is going to come any time. Godspeed for you.

For future needs of anyone, excellent tow service is beeing provided by Enrique Salcedo Towing from San Quintin, phone (616) 165-2280, cel is (616)
163-0088, reasonable rates and you can pay them with a credit card. |
i have a friend who used this company and he said they only tow you to tj. they can't cross the border with your rig. is this still the case or can
they now cross???? also, i have their number as 446-161-630088. which is correct????
great info....

I believe it was noted that the truck and trailer were being dropped in Tijuana by the tow operator and heading across the border by other means.

thanks BajaNomad..... i need to focus!!!! so does that mean the "44" is obsolete? or is is like an area code for san q?

great info.... | Still the same for all of the above. Can not cross the border and cel is the same but
remember there are diferent ways to call a cel in México, 044 from land to cel or cel to cel localy (within same area code) 045 from land to cel or
cel to cel long distance (outside area code) and 01152 1 from US to a MX cel.

Update on the Divers
At approximately 8p.m. we delivered Mrs. Diver the two children, two Diver dogs and all the left over pizza to the Chula Vista RV park where Diver and
the person who met FDT and Diver in Tijuana and towed the trailer over the border were waiting.
They cannot go back to Tijuana for the truck until Monday----the locked lot is closed on Sunday, but then again, so are the Ford Dealers. Truck will
either be on a flat bed trailer or towed, but it will get back.
John and I had a really good time.
Now our big dog, Tom, was a little horrified because he had to ride in the back of the truck (with camper shell) with the two Diver dogs---he was a
little outraged at being treated like a dog! Didn't matter that he had his big fluffy dog bed. So spoiled.
Our little dog rode on my lap because we were afraid she might cause trouble and try to eat the big labs.
Good to have all of them back safe and sound----now about that red truck----

Glad to hear that they are back together and that the labs didn't get eaten by the Trotter dogs.

Diver,
So glad that you guys got back to the us. It is also so heart warming that even though Nomads fight and bicker, when there is a crunch they all rally
together to help eachother out.

One more to add---with the cell phones in Mexico, the area code is determined by where the cell phone is purchased. Example. I bought my in Bahia
Asuncion and Diver bought his in El Rosario so even when he was in El Rosario, and we were in San Qunitin, I still had to call him like it was long
distance using the 045 instead of 044.
Now that should have cleared it all up.
BTW, I keep a cheat sheet with me at all times or I would never be able to call anyone.
Hoping that the problem with the truck is not real serious.

That's the same way my USA cell phones work in in the USA.

Good job Trotters, and other Nomads, what a super group of people. Sorry we could not help, if our Suburban did not have similar malady, we could
have used it to help. We are back in Canada now and sorely missed our Diver family this trip.
Now for the good news Diver, you have used up all of your Baja bad luck travelling, and some Washington State bad luck as well, so you are now good
to go in the future for a long time. Noboby got hurt, so remember our credo, life is an adventure, live it. You did and now you deserve some good
luck for a long time.
Cheers from Tia Juanita and the family as well.

Yes, except in the US you just have to dial the area code. With a Mexican cell phone, besides the area code, you have to remember weather to dial 044
or 045 first if you are in Mexico.
If called a cell from the US, you don't use the 044 or 045----instead, it is as FDT said 011-52-1 then the area code and the number. The extra "1"
designates that you are calling a cell phone and not a land line.
I like my cheat sheet.

Hi Diver, Mr. Gypsy here....
Just read all the posts and feel for you and your family in your adventure. Very sorry we couldnt be there to help you guys out, but have to mention
I'm totally floored on the outpouring of help from fellow nomads, my hat is off to you all
When you get your truck finally fixed up, please post the results. Very curious on what all went wrong with the truck. We have retired the landcruiser
(gas) and have gone to diesel aswell with the new dodge 2500 (well its new to us... its a 2006 that doesnt need the low sulfur diesel) and if it is
fuel issues of any sort would like to know about it.
Hope all is well, and hopefully see you guys in the new year!
Mr. Gypsy

Diver,
I hope you got on the road and are having a great time by now. I wish we could have figured out a way to get your pickup and my jeep on the trailer.
It was nice meeting you.
