So true the stories I've heard regarding hangovers after having too much fun are just overwhelming. It't soooo painful to almost daily see Shari being a great hostess and friend in such a cool place. The more fish she posts the sicker I get... to get down there!!

It's not fair to see people enjoying themselves so much. So for the sake of our sanity, quit rubbin' it in so deep!:lol:

I am not against a prosperous little town. I kinda would like to see Mexicans remain the predominate cullture there though but that's how I feel about all Mexican towns.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks that are now a minority in their own neighborhood.

Shari and Juan are good for the economy down there. The fill an important niche from all I've read, do a great job of it. Now pull down the flags or the whole world will be there manana!;D

Sharks, for your information, the northerners who have bought here (less than 10) are few and far between...I'm the only one in my neighbourhood...oooops I'm mexican as is my family...trotters and laurieboats made their own neighbourhood, gaffer is alone in a sea of locals in his beloved barrio, bajaboy loves being the only gringo in the back of town, timo is surrounded by Arce's, and redmesa is awash in mexicanos daily....It is working out really nicely in that way...there is no gringo compound or area but a few barrios have a token gringo and enjoy it.

It makes for a positive immersion scenario, more work for the locals, amuses the neighbours, and is an all round nice experience for everyone.....largely due to the wonderful people who have chosen this place and the gracious townsfolk who welcome them. There is a really cool cultural exchange of language, ideas, skills, food and friendships. Those who come here are surprised how loving the neighbours are...they are always bringing over food like lobster, crab, fish, cake, etc. and the sharing is contagious.
So far so good sharks but it is definately not for everyone. Perhaps it seems that we are overrun by tourists...not at all true. We maybe have like a 20% occupancy rate...mainly due to all our clients end up getting their own places!! anyway...our lives have been enriched by the folks who are making their homes here...we are fa..mi...ly!

Well said Shari. Asuncion has a long ways to go before it becomes a gringo enclave....and that's a good thing.

Egads, I wasn't slamming anyone. Just from this perspective it looks like a place to good to pass up. You do a good job of attracting folks. Like some relatives, they come to visit but never go home.

Egods! Luv ya, mean it!!!

I remember those panicky days during Shari and Juans' contruction. The earth rumbled and roared yet you had a firm grip. You didn't cave in either figuratively or literally. You got my respect girl!

I'm hopeful your town will persevere during tough times ahead. Your gracious hospitality is well known. It's a shame their aren't more open arms in the world. You go girl!
