Mood: Let's have a BBQ!

[*] posted on 1-16-2009 at 07:20 PM

Not sure what time they close as I usually have lunch there. Reading my prior post I should have made it clear that I had a couple of tacos but from Manuels. Didn't want to make the drive to that part of town today as I had others things to do.

As far as the exchange rate at La Fonda I am not sure what it is right now. I always pay for everything in pesos and just avoid those screwy exchange rates some folks are offering. I saw a Pemex yesterday still only giving 10.50. Those attendants can make some great $$$ just in the exchange.

Not sure what to do with my avatar. Nobody seems to like any of them...

:(:(:(

Sorry, but I thought perones was an Italian beer or a condition noted about Bill Clinton's penis.

What is interesting to watch after your order these is how fast they can put it all together. They slop it on there quickly, and it's messy and tasty for sure!!!!

That marinated carne asada is cooked right in front of you over mesquite, then they soak it more in more marinade in a big covered heated pot. They take it out, chop it all up on a big stump of wood, and then make up the perone.... unreal!

Taqueria 2000

I honestly couldn't tell the difference. But then it's been over a year since I've been to Yaqui. Taqueria 2000 is much easier to get in and out of especially now that the cuota exit is also an entrance. Exit and drive 3 blocks then reverse. The fewer Rosarito streets traveled the better 'cause the cops are predators. :fire:

I understand that 2000 is a bit cheaper but I couldn't swear to it.

I only know of one of them. The one on Calle Ensenada, or "the street off the dairy exit from the toll road" ... they've always been great. I prefer going to this one over Yaqui mainly because I tend to avoid the tourist area ... en donde esta el otro tacos 2000?

Another Tacos Manuel is on Benito Juarez across from the strip mall where "Coppel" and "Auto Zone" are. Tacos El Zurdo (even better IMHO) is on Benito Juarez at the light just after the McDonalds intersection light. That have one over-stuffed carne asada burrito there that would fill a bull.

Wow, they finally turned it into an entrance going southbound? That IS good news. It makes Taqueria 2000 more like a pit stop rather than a detour. I gotta make it a point to hit that on the way south. Heck there's even a new Pemex right there too if memory serves...one stop shop

Another option is to just head two blocks north from Yaqui's to tacos EL Gerente. The owner of the place is the guy that originally set up Yaqui and makes them the exact same way.

In fact most of the locals go to El Gerente, not to Yaqui...

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I love that inside info on the taco stuff... The only fast food I eat is In-n-Out BUrgers and carne asada burritos from any San Diego taco shop with a "to's" Robertos, Albertos, Alibertos, Just to's ... whatever in it.

But... I find something intersting to enjoy in every streetside taco shop in Rosarito. The sit down dinin places recently... not so much.
