Propane fill El Rosario

Is there a place that fills 20# propane bottles in El Rosario? I've tried the big station right past the bend (heading south) and he's told me that he can't fill the 20 # bottles . Any other places?

Thats the only place in ER that we know of.
FYI....They can't fill #20 tanks in Guererro Negro either.
They don't have the external thread fitting and the inside threads are a different size

Are what you refer to as "20lb" propane bottles what I refer to as "5 gal" propane bottles (normal bar-b-q size)???

------and if so, the internal threads should be exactly the same as the new bottles with outside threads. In other words, the "new" bottles, and the "old" bottles have the same threads inside the valve stem, or at least all mine do.

the tank on my grill at home uses an adaptor. I used to have to take it to the fill station but they now have an adaptor that they use. Is this the same issue?

I have 6 bar-b-q size propane bottles, 3 smaller 3-gal size bottles, 1 10 gal size, and 1 15 gal size--------------4 are the old type with no external threads that fit the new type hoses, and 8 are the new-type bottles with both external and internal threads-------------the old style propane hoses fit all 11 bottles, i.e. same threads. the new-style hoses only fit the new type bottles.

In the USA they will not fill the old style 3 gal, and 5 gal sizes anymore----it is illegal. However, they will fill the larger (10 gal and 15 gal., on up) old-style bottles, tho.

In Mexico I understand that they will fill both old style and new style bottles, and there should be no problem????

----something has changed?????

Juan and I were in GN last week and I took my tank to be filled.
He took one look and said no way
They don't have the fitting to fill
Mine is fairly new with both in/out threads

I read this to mean, "you are just out of luck with any of the smaller propane bottles, old type or new type, as to getting them filled in Baja" ?????

Now that is bizarre considering how many Mexicans use them for their cook stoves in the more remote villages and fish camps. What in blazes do they do now???

THe threads are the same but the on the new tanks you have to push the valve in and the nipple on the filler is to long so it only catches on 1 thread or so. If the fitting is brand new it works for awhile. I bought an adapter at a propane place in the states that screws on the outside threads and you screw the filler into that. Every time I fill tanks they want to buy the adapter
