Long Term Parking at Tijuana Airport

I am flying Volaris from TJ on Sunday morning, and am planning to leave my car long term at the airport. Since I've never actually been to the TJ airport, can somebody tell me where long term parking is, how secure it is (the car will be there for a week), and what the shuttle situation is to the actual airport from the parking lot. Also, if you could, I need directions. I will be coming to TJ on the toll road from the South.

Thanks in advance.

I have flown in and out of TJ several times. The entrance to the long term parking is right next to the entrance to the regular parking. I would suggest that you avoid it. I have never had an issue with it but it is a bit on the expensive side. You would be better off to find long term parking north of the border and just take the airline bus from San Diego to the TJ terminal...

I don't want to go North of the border because I have an early morning flight, and I don't want to deal with the border crossing at 7 AM. Also, I have a Sentri pass, but my husband doesn't, which means he would need to walk, with his suitcase and computer--too much of a hassle before a vacation! And since he's not a morning person in the first place, the need to get up at least an hour earlier to make a 9 AM flight is not really appealing! Is the long term parking pretty secure, and can you just walk from the lot to the airport?

Last time I checked the longterm parking at TJ airport is $16 US per day.
I figured that for a 3-4 day trip it's about a break even (including shuttle cost) of parking north of the border and much more convienent. For longer trips it starts to get more expensive than parking north and taking a shuttle.
If you cross south at Otay it's about 15 minutes to the TJ airport and the parking structure looks easy to access.
Anyplace north is still going to charge you atleast $5 a day and maybe more. So the luxury of driving to the airport and parking is about $10 more per day.

Unfortunately for you, you are initiating your trip in Mexico. For those flying from San Diego, there's a shuttle from the train station to the TJ airport. Also just noticed the current fare post TJ to SJD is 1000 pesos each way.

Parking TJ

I just flew out of TJ on Volaris over the holidays. I parked at Otay Park and Shuttle 619-661-1401, $5 per day (internet coupon for 1 free day parking), the shuttle to the terminal is free (approx. 5 minutes). On the way home you purchase a voucher from Otay Park and Shuttle for one of the airport taxis. The price for the voucher is $30 for first person and $10 for each additional. The airport taxi takes you in a special lane to the border crossing, where walk through customs (took us about 15min. on a Sat. afternoon). As soon as I cleared customs I called Otay Park and Shuttle, from there you have to walk about 50 yards and exit government property. As I put my bags down the van was arriving. My trip was for 16 days, so it made $ sence. We avoided the border crossing in the car 1-2 hours? There is also a $3 off coupon on the internet for the voucher. brian

That's good to know. The Volaris website only lists the service from downtown San Diego, which is done by a Volaris contractor.
