For Sale Signs on Vehicles

I have been told that to put a "Se Vende" sign or "$" sign on a US plated vehicle can lead to impoundment and loss of your vehicle.

What is your opinion ?

The saturday morning flea market in San Felipe is filled with US plated vehicles for sale. Haven't heard of any problems. But, that is BCN not Sur.

hmm... I never thought about it, but it makes sense. Mexico is very leary of people going down and selling vehicles.

I do love it when idiot drivers have their home phone numbers on their vehicles though. :P

Depends on who is selling the U.S. plated vehicle!

If it is a U.S. citizen on a FM-T, then it's a BIG NO-NO! ('Tourists' don't sell their cars in Mexico for income... they come to Mexico to spend their income!)

Is it illegal? Probably.

Up along the border area doesn't seem to stop anybody as you see thousands of them.

YMMV...

Technically, unless you have a corporation and/or work permit you can't legally sell a postage stamp.

Practically, In all my years here I've only known one individual who's paid the consequences.

I'd take the risk. ;D

Watch out Dave. Encouraging someone to break the law in Mexico (or anywhere else) may cause you to become the object of ridicule and scorn by the "Nomad Police".....

I haven't quite recovered from my recent tongue lashing at the hands of my Nomad bretheren when I committed a similar infraction........dt
