I leave Tacate at about 0730 and drive to Guerrero Negro getting there about 5 or 6. Then about 2 more hours to San Ignacio. Probably about 12 hours
or so.

2 days for an enjoyable drive... 540 miles, and if you have never driven south of San Quintin, you don't want to figure U.S. highway average driving
times... as spi619 says, 12 hours (not towing, not in a motorhome).

This time of year, there is nowhere near enough daylight to make it all the way safely in one day.

When we were younger, we did it in one day. But now I know what journey is like - 2 days. Try el Rosario, Baja Cactus as the palce to stay after one
day.

Assuming that you have 9 days to travel and don't want to try to "red-eye" routine;
Day 1 drive to Tecate/San Diego
Day 2 drive to San Quintin or El Rosario
Day 3 drive to GN
Day 4 see whales all day
Day 5 see whales in am then drive to San Ignacio
Day 6 see whales in San Ignacio
Day 7 leave for San Quintin
Day 8 back across the border and home late or;
Day 9 get home early
This is based on your other post.
Are you camping or hotelling or ??
Do you want to hang on the beach or stay near the restaurants ?

Didn't catch the other post Diver refers to, but, unless you are a veteran Baja traveler, his timetable makes great sense. Only those crazy fools who
have made multiple trips and are absolutely tired of the amazing scenery and wonderful people along the way, would attempt to make it from the border
to San Ignacio in one day. Have to confess that I have done the Cabo to California drive, one driver, in two days (an overnight in San Ignacio at
Ricardos.) But I was a basket case for days after returning home. There's just so much beauty and so many wonderful people along the way, that if you
do have nine days, take it slowly. In fact, if you get to San Ignacio, think of the fact that you are very close to Santa Rosalia and Mulege. A brief
trip to the Sea of Cortez will amaze you by its stark contrast to the Pacific side of Baja.
