Hotel Calafia in Rosarito, anyone stayed??

Hi all,

My Wife and I drove by this hotel on the free road south of Rosarito, it looked quite nice from the outside, and there was a sign with room specials as low as $35, BUT is it a nice place to stay? Their website looks good, as does their food but then advertising can be misleading!

http://www.hotel-calafia.com/

If its good it might be a good place to stop on the way down from SD if its getting too late to press on.

just try getting one of those rooms for $35. a friend has been there twice and never paid less than $80, but that was a few years back. the bar on the cliff is classic.

I believe those are mid week rates, ands it's $35 each based on double occupancy. Good food, incredible view. The rooms are not bad.

Mexico!! Where two can live as cheaply as one.....but it costs twice as much.....

rates quoted are for 2 adults and 2 children under 12 staying in the same room.
Sun- Thurs = $40 no view; $70 partial ocean view; $100 for "boutique ocean front" (whatever that is!)
Fri & Sat = $65, $90, $125 respectively.

We stayed in one of the "ocean front" rooms last year at $100/nite when my brother got married there. Shoddy room, locks on windows didn't work, barley warn water for shower, towels so bad I would't have used them to wax my car, towel rack broken, floor at steep angle, sewage smell, basically a dump!

astro: I would recommend our house in Rancho Packard somewhere between Maneadero and La Bufadora. Cost: FREE, but we might ask you to bring us a few things from the USofA, for which you would be reimbursed.

We offer a large oceanview room with a very nice double bed and it's own private sun deck complete with lounge chairs...your own bathroom but you have to go down the stairs to use it if you're in your bedroom; free parking; all you can eat and drink of whatever we have. And the coup de gras! 3 dogs and 2 cats to entertain you....

LOL ok well that about says it I guess:D We may just ask to see a room out of curiosity. Heck staying at Estero is always great, big rooms, clean, fridge, coffee maker, good hot water with lots of pressure! Kinda average food, but very quiet and ocean view/with surf sound. Off season we get a room for $70!

Bajabound: thats a very generous offer! PM me with what kinds of goodies you might like, we are not 100% sure we can leave the ranch next week (tuesday) but we can stay in touch!

cheers

Mike

Geez. If you don't want go all the way to Ensenada, try La Fonda. In La Mision, just a little bit South of Calafia. Funky rooms. Great restaurant. Right on the beach.
