Bakery in Rosarito

At a gathering, someone brought a great cake with whipped cream. i asked him where he got it, and he told me at a bakery in rosarito, and that they had great pastry. He said it was on the road that had mcdonald's on the corner near a large shopping center. does anyone know of that bakery? thanks, diana

I Know That Stretch of Road

...pretty well, and I have never noticed a freestanding bakery in that area (like Panaderia Espiga, which has different shops located in the main part of town).

However, inside the big supermarket, Comercial Mexicana, is a bakery that creates spectacular looking and delicious-to-eat cakes. Several friends use that as a "go-to" when they need to bring something to a party.

El Nido restaurant in downtown Rosarito has an attached bakery located around the corner on the road going towards the beach and nightclubs. We've sampled these desserts at Tapanco, El Nido's Popotla Blvd. restaurant, and they are very, very good; the strawberry cheesecake was especially memorable.

That's Amore restaurant makes all their desserts and the tiramisu is the best I have ever tasted.

Hope that this helps you out.

i think comercial mexicana is the one... where is it located? is it on the same street as the mcdonalds? that cake also had tons of strawberries and other fruit... i'll also check out el nido as i get off the toll road in rosarito and then take the free road to la mision from there. is el nido on the right or left going in that direction.

thanks, diana

East of the Toll Road (Cuota)

Go east past McDonalds (by the way, Mexican friends say they have better fries there than in el norte - I wouldn't know, I rather eat at the street side taco stands), over the bridge. The monster market with the orange pelican sign is on your left. Turn left at the first signal and left again at the "Entrada" sign.

The bakery is just inside the first entrance door, on your right. They have a picture book of the cakes they make and a big selection of fresh cakes in the display cases.

The new shopping center with the Home Depot and WalMart also has a new freestanding bakery. I'm on a diet so I really only noticed the GNC Vitamin store...
