Trailer Rentals San Diego to Baja

Has anyone rented a trailer in the US for hauling stuff to Baja? I've seen U-Haul trucks/trailers in Baja, but don't know if they were rented in Baja or the US.

Thanks...
Linda

I searched the Chula Vista/SD area for a trailer and none would allow them to be taken into Baja; so we didn't tell them !

I wanted to do that but they wouldnt allow the trailers to go across the border. I ended up hiring a company to move some stuff down to mexico. I think maybe you are not suppoosed to cross the border with them but some people do... maybe is an insurance thing.

another angle to this,, this is some thing that i have done in the past,,

look for a nice used trailer from a private party,, buy it,, when your done resell it,, some times you can break even or make a little, or lose a little,, but it might still be cheaper than paying some one to haul it for you

Desertcpl has the right idea.

FYI - taking any rental vehicle or rented trailer into Mexico that is not supposed to go there would automatically void the insurance. Not worth the risk in my opinion....

desertcpl ...

I have contemplated that, as my experience is the same as those reporting.... nada to crossing the border with a rental trailer.

Since my US residence is in FL, at least once or twice a year, I find myself renting a U-Haul, loading it up, and taking it to San Diego. Usually great friends have been very helpful and have come up for me to off load the trailer into their truck, and taken the stuff to our casa, but I hate to continue to ask for these type of favors. Time I just figured it out on my own. I think buying a used trailer might be just the ticket!
Thanks!
