ramp at la Joya?
Hi dou you know if there is a boat ramp at la Joya campsite near Punta Banda? how good is the ramp?

I was next door at Villarinos, Punta Banda last
Aug., the sportfishing panga fleet
would drive through the Villarinos campground
and beach launch. Even on a high
tide the water did not come close
to the campground 'wall'.
Maybe it was just the moon phase,
but the trucks pulling panga
trailers drove 200' out on
the beach to the water and hand
launched

It's always beach launching from La Jolla. No ramp. Some days are better or worse than others depending on wind and surf. There's a ramp at Rincon,
a quarter mile west of La Jolla but it's tide sensitive and a large butt pain.
What size is your boat? Larger boats are launched at the Coral hotel, north end of Ensenada.
Pretty pathetic for "The Yellowtail Capitol Of The World" and all that chamber of commerce nonsense.

I have photos to go along with the verdict; it's beach launching at Campo La Jolla. You have to get your wheels wet. BTW, I've never seen anyone
besides Ivan driving through Villarinos to launch in front of their place.

It can get a bit tricky pulling your boat out on a busy summer afternoon. No one will get out of your way. Note the edge of the "ramp" wall.
Dennis, did they ever patch up that giant hole that was on the Rincon ramp?

I don't know. I won't go out there 'till the snow melts.
By the way......the third foto of the big-ass tin boat on the trailer in the water....that's a bit too much boat for beach launching. They pull it
off but, not without a lot of effort and embarrasment.

It is a big boat for beach launching. They do get the PBYC truck pretty wet. I can't imagine anyone doing that with their stateside truck, or any
other truck for that matter.
I've also seen trucks end up in deeper water than this one. It happens when people launch and tend to their boat all the while their vehicle sits. The
water washing back and forth buries the wheels, they can't get it out, the tide comes in and there you have it.
I've only seen two trucks with water up to the windows, one was brand new. The other one Fred Hoctor and I watched through his binoculars from his
house. He had a great view of the boat launching shows that went on.

Great shot Paulina. I watched this for a couple of months almost everyday last winter. He is great at getting the boat out of the water.
