Does anyone know of a assisted living facility in Baja?
My Father is 83 years old and wants to move to BCS somewhere between La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. Does anyone know of a assisted living facility that we
can check into? Thank you!!!

Not a real common service provided here in a country where extended families all live under the same roof. It's a cultural thing for family to take
care of their own. I did a search for "assisted living facility Baja California Sur" & while there are a few out there, it's obviously not a
thriving business.
You might find something sooner if you were to advertise for a room in someones home with the homeowner acting as a caregiver (depends on the extent
of medical care needed versus non-medical). Or possibly him buying/renting his own place with hired live-in caregiver, depending again on the level
of assistance required.
You might try searching the internet to see if you can find anything or at least gain a little knowledge of what might be available where.
Kudos to dad for still wanting to live the dream! Best of luck in the search for a good fit resolution!

I do know of one facility open in San Miguel de Allende on the mainland, but there is an apparent boom in building and opening such facilities. Check
out www.amar.org.mx. Their website is still under construction, but they have a "contact us" link.

there is a great facility in Santa Rosalia and I remeber at least a couple that I have heard of in La Paz.
I checked out the facility in Santa Rosalia and liked the view as well as the facility itself. Thought I should get a jump on where I want to live
when I get older.

DT.IN.LB.BAJA,
How much assistance will be required?
A formal care-facility may exist between La Paz - Cabo and be good for you, but let me suggust that you do for your father what several older US folks
have done here in Mulege over the years.
First, visit and make friends in your area of choice. Your father has already expressed his likes in that regard.
You will soon find a great and caring family home that will rent a suite within thier house itself..or a small casita next door.
Viola..instant 'care-facility' for your dad. Most likely he will like this arrangement a bit better than the other, but I may be wrong. Naturally,
the choice has to be his and he is ready and able for such a move.
