I've heard chatterings that Blvd 2000 was poorly lit, sparsely populated, and dangerous and have avoided trying that route. Have there been improvements? Safe in the daylight but not at night? Any insight?

No problems in daylight, but I echo Dennis....I try not to drive that road, the free road or the toll road at night!!!

2000 is inherently dangerous, especially for northbound travelers. That's because as it begins at Popotla, it goes many miles as what appears to be a freeway, through rural country, with no cross traffic. But, as you get farther north you begin to encounter grade crossings absent traffic lights from many newer housing subdivisions, as well as considerable pedestrian traffic crossing the road. Many people, having sped through the rural section are likely to be driving too fast when they encounter the more urban North. Gotta slow down and really keep looking side to side.
