I agree with Shari. It is Volaris. Currently it flies out of Tijuana to other cities, however, the are plans in the works for the airline to depart from some other US cities. FAA is working on the details. My wife works in the airline business and broke the news to me about 6 months ago. Volaris could be flying out of Ontario, CA by summer 2009.

I fly Volaris regularly. I've never been charged for checked baggage. Is this a new policy? Their website still shows two checked bags without surcharge. As far as the fares, it pays to check their site regularly if your itinerary is flexible. I'm paying about $155usd (depending on the peso, of course) round trip between TJ and LP.

I fly all over Mexico using Volaris and will continue to do so. I'm taking the wife to Guadalajara the end of the month and the cost for both of us is about $490.00. Aeromexico would charge about $550.00 for one person---Tijuana-Gdl and return.

I have a friend who is a pilot for Volaris. He says they will soon be flying to Oakland from Toluca. Other routes can't be far behind.

I wish we could talk them into being the first airline to fly out of San Bernardino. You and I would be in like Flint!

Volaris shuttle

Has anyone used the shuttle from San Diego to TJ? Where do you connect with the shuttle if you fly into San Diego? At the airport or at the America Plaza or elsewhere?

The shuttle is based at Union Station, just a five min taxi ride from Lindberg Field.

Volaris is thee airline to fly to Baja Sur these days. It's a very easy connection from San Diego airport-train station-Tijuana.

Beats the competition all told. It WOULD be nice if they flew to Palo Verde (Sta. Rosalia) and/or Loreto...hint-hint.
