Anyone know how many in the bike race yesterday

Didn't look like very many. Last year they said they needed 5000 to breakeven. I don't think there was that many riders,Just wondering. k

Local paper, El Vigia, says "thousands"; an article last week said they were anticipating 3500.

I saw tons of riders and spectators. Not my bailywick so wasn't that interested. Seemed like a pretty good showing. Cars were parked on the toll road to watch.

Turnout was around 3,500 as estimated, but the majority of riders were from Baja. Prior to the ride, the Mexico Tourism Board did extensive promotion throughout Baja to generate local interest, while advertising in the U.S. was minimal. Overall the event went well and without incident.
