Of course, to hear or read a "Voice of Reason," you need an account and password. It's not for everyone.

He makes good points about the statistics on SARS and avian flu. And $71 round trip from NYC to Cancun? Wow.

Oh goody, thanks for posting this link.
There's nothing like a little bit of cold math to balance out the tendency towards over-reaction.
I have my backpack packed, and I am watching the airfares .
$293.00 round trip to SJD from my local airports.
If it was $71.00 ($142 RT) I would be there tomorrow!

I would be there also. Unfortunately for us, there is a point where the airlines stop lowering fares and start cutting capacity. Just read that both
Continental and Delta are working on doing just that. Either cutting the number of flights or using smaller aircraft.

The number of flights have already been reduced from the airports on the West Coast.
There are probably enough people that need to go back and forth for business and family reasons to keep smaller commercial aircraft flying for a
while.
The $293.00 fare shows through the end of May.
I am not too far from Little River Airport, Little River Ca. I might wander over there and see if anyone feels like getting some fresh, fish tacos ;^)

Didn't know there were flights from Little River to Cabo. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

There are no commercial flights.
There are plenty of other types of flights. Little River is the best field in this area.
With all the rain that we are getting at the moment, I am sure a few people
are heading to sunnier places.
A lot a people fly here when they get a craving for fresh abalone.
I'd happily trade a few abalone for anything Shari is heating up for dinner.

Gee, we used to get to Little River by hitch hiking. If that's the one near Albion and Mendocino. No one around there had a plane then, but we all
knew how to fly; there were plenty of "other types" of flights then too.
Paula and I met on the Navarro River. Been quite a few years.
