Cool Avatar! Can you tell us the medium? Is it a digitally manipulated photo?

It was September 2005 and we were bound for Baja for a 3 month stint to test the waters. We took our then 2 dogs (now 3) with us -- had a license plate frame that said "Baja Bound Hounds".

Went back to Calif in December, sold the house, packed the goods and moved to Baja forever.

Back in "the day" Parnelli got Firestone to develop a special tire for pickups and big rigs racing in Baja.
It was very tall, had a very narrow tread and a large flexible sidewall.

The tires were called "Baja Runners"

We used the tires with a lot of success,
and after every race my tire guy, the late Jack McCoy, would take them off and sell them to kids for their street rods.

Just possibly the worst street tires they could buy, but they loved the profile, and no one seemed to mind that the soft compound wore out real quickly.

I was going to use my real name, but some idiot has already used it.

So I used this one, because my other home is in Montana, the Big Sky Country.
So, who is this "Don Alley" character, anyway?

I watched the osprey, the fish hawk stoop, dive at incredible speed, then brake just in time to sink his lethal talons into a fish swimming on the ocean's surface. Most of the time he barely enters the water, struggles mightily skyward a meter or two then shakes the water from his feathers, banks and climbs to find a perch where he can pick the meat from the still writhing prey -- soft meat first, eyes, tongue, belly and gut. The whole process seemed somehow poetic to me.

I didn't reply to this thread for obvious reasons, but now thanks to Paula, the other Paulina, my name now stands for fearless woman.

I think it fits.

I like the way Pauwleena sounds. I'm also called "Pauw" by a few locals in Bahia.

P<*)))>{

p.s. I use the fish after my initial in memory of my old friend Fred Hoctor.

Ok I'll share...

I wear a helmet at work. The last letter of my name wore off leaving only Woo. It was that way forever, long enough that everyone started calling me Woo. I eventually became our union president hence the Big. It's also the volcano in "Joe vs. the Volcano", quite representative of those times.

When I retire this year and leave this life up North behind, I plan to change my name and start over. :bounce:

Well, for starters, he's NO idiot! The early bird gets the worm!:lol:

I'm sticking by my assumption that my on-line name is self-explanatory!:bounce::bounce: But if some" idiot" REQUIRES an explanation....I'll have to put some thought into it! :spingrin::tumble::spingrin:

ok- for "BajaNuts"-

hubby found this forum, and registered us before I even knew about it. I was flying solo on La Paz and happened to meet LongLegs and Comitan in person through this forum while in La Paz. And it was my pleasure to meet them!

I've done 95% of the posts. that's why the avatar says BajaNuts1-

right after he registered, someone asked about the name and his reply was something about..."well, I guess I'm just Nuts about Baja."

I suppose I could register my own name, something like-----

"HotSauceQueen-from-the-poster-formerly-known-as-BajaNuts".

:lol::lol::lol:

Yea, well....maybe not!..............

better stick with 'Nuts1!:biggrin:
