That means In My Opinion... while we here in the USA are still permitted to have one that is different than CNN or MSNBC! :bounce:
It never ceases to amaze me how your mind works, or how on earth you come up with your fanciful opinions/assumptions about people you know nothing about other than the words they've chosen to post here!

"I didn't run away because I don't like it here..." So your inference is that those of us who were able to realize our dreams, follow our hearts & move to areas we love....were in reality just running away from some unspecified thing we didn't like in the states? Have you seen pics of Wiley in your local PO lately?:o ME?:o ANY other Nomad you know is living in Baja? What IYHO were we all running away from? Please enlighten us all.

"I live here and pay taxes here..."....I lived there for 52 years, paid taxes in one form or another from the day I bought my first package of bubble gum & much higher state & federal tax rates once I started working. I've been living outside of the USA full-time for 10 years, but I have a news flash for you, I still pay federal taxes each & every year & all the other gringo's formerly from the USA that I know here also pay & file US taxes annually. So can you explain what's so special/unique about your honoring your tax obligations in the country you live in? :?::?:

You have extreme tunnel vision on your mis-perceptions of available news sources for those who live in Baja. I personally have access to just as many news sources as you do & I'll go out on a limb & say that I'd guess more than 60-75% of the gringos who live south of the border do as well.

I rarely respond to what I consider to be political posts, but your ludicrous statements/assumptions/opinions about people you don't know, have never met, will most likely never meet, infuriated me.:fire::fire:

Did you ever once stop & think about the fact that possibly, just possibly you're not quite the expert on others lives, actions, personal choices & decisions that you seem to believe you are?

Are you under an impression that because those of us from the USA choose to live in Baja....that we're no longer U.S. citizens? That we lost our voting capabilities because we live here? That we left our interest in what happens in the USA at the border along with our USA standards & expectations? That we feel no loyalty to the country of our birth?:no::no::no::no::no:

Please THINK about your words before you hit the send button. Words, like bells, can't be un-rung or called back, they echo through time. I know that you posted a disclaimer that those words were just your HO, and while you have a right to express your opinion, I also have a right to express my HO in telling you that I found your HO to be ludicrous, way off base & personally offensive.

I find myself wanting to post here less and less and ONE of the reasons is exactly what you are saying. It does seem that as long as the politicizing is right wing, it is definitely ignored.

Longlegs---as usual, a well thought out and well stated post and I know we even disagree in some areas of politics.:yes:

My retirement fund has been close to wiped out. Yeah, my plans have definitely been postponed and I don't see anything turning around any time soon. Red or blue, (and I'm a die hard red) I don't see anything turning around soon.... So 3 months ago I went back to a 40 hour a week job, it's kicking my old butt, and I don't see the end in sight.
Can anyone explain to me where we're going to find the money for all this "stimulus"? Cuz I'm puzzled. This will be my last post on this topic in this thread.

Diane,

Don't think any rightwing statement is ignored, numerous posts have called out DK's statement. Except in OffTopic the majority of opinions with a political bent here are from left of center, IMO. Not complaining just pointing the obvious out.

I agree with you, but you could have hit the report button when DK politicized the thread for what good it would have done you.

Isn't it amazing how fearful those on the left are of the voice of someone on the right?

Why can't any of you (who jumped on me) just read and paricipate in a friendly discussion?

Very, very sad that the two party system isn't able to work out things together, without name calling or threats.

As stated, you guys won the election and your guy and your party took on a one billion dollar debt and turned it into a THREE billion dollar debt in a couple months... more than all the previous presidents before, in over 200 years!

That that doesn't concern you has me wondering what brand of tequila you drink so much of? That's a joke not an insult (by-the-way)...

Seriously, lighten up an try and get along with the rest of us Nomads... Maybe some of you live in another country now, but those of us unable to run away from this mess need some serious repairs to the freedom being removed from us. A little friendship and understanding wouldn't hurt either!

What happened to being open minded and tolerant of other ideas?

Now have a nice day all of you !

"Lighten up" after your pejorative remarks about those of us who worked hard for the privilege of living here? I don't understand why you insist on characterizing this as "running away."

This was a very interesting and informative thread until you derailed it with what is becoming your usual politically-charged response to virtually any issue on this board. Look in the mirror next time you want to utter "lighten up." Better yet, reintroduce yourself to the Off-Topic forum.

Now can we return to an area of far greater human interest, namely the topic of this thread.

Back to the original topic.

We are planning on spending 6 months ea year in Baja after we retire in less than two years. We currently live in So Cal and will relocate to AZ when we pull the plug. We own a lot in Punta Chivato on Shell Beach which we plan to build a small house on. The economy has postponed these plans by 2 years.

If the value of houses in So Cal doesn't improve from here in the next 18 months we will have a nice camping spot to put our 5th wheel on.

Either option will be just fine!:D

Good for you, Ken. We started living half the year in La Paz 10 years ago. Will be back next October 'till April. I wear shorts and T shirt all year (well, maybe a sweat shirt now and then). We get back to the U.S. in time for spring wildflowers, killing weeds, planting a garden and start hiking the coast range. As the snow melts in the Sierras, we are backpacking. Then, when the leaves start turning, days getting shorter/colder, we lose daylight savings time, we head down to La Paz. Seems like Springtime there as the fall weather brings rain and then the desert starts greening up and flowers come out. Used to ski every winter, but probably forgot how. Good luck, it's well worth waiting for!

You don't read very many of my posts, do you?

1) It is extremely rare to see politics in my 18,000 posts here

2) It is always in response, politics is never started by me.

3) Because the lefties can't stand to be questioned... or have facts to expose their view of reality... they are very quick to condemn anyone who disputes their view or their wishes of world socialism. Democrats used to hate Marxism, now they embrace it.

All I am saying is if you value the freedom of ideas and debate, you stop this one sided attack on me or anyone who posses a different view. Being liberal used to mean open expression of ideas. What happened to that?

This thread should be a place to read each post and respond if you have something to share. Instead of just reading my response and posting something of his own, comi decided to re-direct the resonse to me and not the subject... then the others jumped in for a bite!

Now, look again at the replies above...

Freedom isn't just for the few... :light:
