On Topic...
While my real estate holdings have diminished in value, I have not had to put retirement plans on hold. They were in place before the economic
downturn. I am old enough to have been able to retire with a modest income from good, secure first mortgages I hold from real estate I have sold...at
the right time. I was lucky and my timing was right. I also collect Social Security.
My life as a multi-disciplinary artist has always supplemented my day gig and vice versa. I have never been a slave to a corporation. Those lifetime
artistic pursuits have and continue to serve me in a very fulfilling life, indeed. They have contributed vastly to an enhanced quality of life; far
more than any monetary possessions could bring. In fact, I have made many decisions and sacrifices along the way that has caused me to live life on
the edge, close to the bone. Now, I am set more securely than in any other time of my life. I am pretty well stuck in the house in California and also
the casita in Mulege, but that's OK. What great places in which to be stuck!
Being a winter-wuss snow bird, I split at the first sign of a goosebump and head for Mulege. I return to the Northern CA mountains for the beauty of
a lush spring.
I have the good fortune to be surrounded by good people and believe I am respected by all. Ahhhhhhhh Life!

Can't do that. It's on hold while everybody plays show and tell with their feces. |

On topic, my only asset is my house and unfortunately, it's on the market right now. So, at least a third of its value when down the toitie! So,
that does drastically affect my future retirement but hopefully, it will still be do-able sone day.

No. I didn't read the book. I just liked the arrogance of the title.

You've been really good at not stepping in it lately, Dennis. Are you feeling OK?

Yeah, Tony. I'm fine. Still on long-term parole, ya know, but that's OK. I don't have to be constantly looking over my shoulder or waiting for the
big shoe to drop.
I'm out of metaphores for tonight so I'm turning in.

I, too, am surprised at how well you're behaving. Your suspicious behavior let's us know something's up! I don't think it's gonna be a mere shoe
that drops... Are you ok? Maybe u need to go to see a doctor...?

Funny you should say that. The guy who lives in the house that Dennis built looks nothing like him. Now I'm really beginning to wonder.....

Although I have to admit there is more than one Dennis, we're all doing fine. Thanks for the concern.
Now, Dennis and Dennis and Dennis and Dennis and myself are going to Paty's for coffee.

All of the Dennises have great names. I love the name Dennis. Used to buy all my shirts in California from Dennis of Venice.

We all do. Returning from Sharky's, there's a few more so it gets kinda crowded in the drivers seat.

I once heard a cop say that if you are going to drive drunk it is best to keep only one hand on the wheel. With two hands you will never get them to
agree to anything while under the influence.
I can only imagine how complicated it must get with multiple you's onboard...

Thanks to the market, I'll be retiring substantially later than I had hoped, unless I'm willing to accept a markedly lower standard of living than the
one I've unfortunately grown accustomed to. And then there's the matter of putting the two pre-teens through college. Boy, life sure was cheaper
before it suddenly seemed like a good idea to get married and have a family. (On the other hand, I rarely have to do my own laundry.)
At least the Baja house is built and paid for. Hopefully it'll still be there when we can finally move in.
