Commercial Air to Loreto?
Does anyone know what airlines fly to Loreto from either San Diego/LA area or TJ? I did a bit of a search to find nothing that I could get a price
for. Thanks, steve

How sad is that $450 price? It's all about supply and demand. Over the past couple of months, I've seen the airlines offering flights LAX to SJD for
as low as $135 R/T. They had many seats to fill, and the flu thing plus recession didn't help. Funny thing is that some of those same flights are now
asking $500+ for available seats. Maybe it's just me, but I just can't wrap my head around the idea that the same product or service should have a
cost variance from $135 to $500+.

Aero Calafia, flying single engine Cessnas to the mainland and Los Cabos.
Aero Litoral/Aero Mexico pulled out. A rumored San Diego flight starting in April never happened.

The $135 price did not include taxes or fees. You need to add another $200 or so to that price to get the final cost. I know, I got sucked into one
of those last month.

Aero Mexico flights to Loreto are scheduled to resume July 2. I think the flight will be to/from San Diego.

Loreto flights
That date for the start of Aeromexico SD - LTO route is retreating. The first rumor I heard had the start on May 5th, then May 15th, then June 1st,
etc. Don't hold your breath. Anyone gets anything solid on it I would love to know what you heard and from whom.

True, I fact I think there was an April date as well.
I got the latest from somewhere in Loreto's electronic newspaper
This time, it's really going to happen! Yes, really. I kid you not. Absolutely sure.

SAN - LTO
Yeah, I read that just now. It's 3 days back in the turismo section. Aeromexico's website still doesn't have Loreto on its list of cities served.
They better get hopping if they're going to start flying in 3 weeks. I'm hoping it's true, but I'm still not making any big bets.

Alaska Air
set up the LAX/LTO route because of the Loreto Bay Development.
They counted on the development in order to fill the planes with prospective buyers. What do you think the chances are for Alaska Air to bail on the
route now that Loreto Bay has folded?

oxxo- $200 per ticket? No way. Maybe $50 at most. I quoted one of those ephermeral fares that advertises like 6 seats and is gone. Fact is, that even
today, if you are looking for a bargain to SJD, you need to sign up on those websites that will send an e-mail and keep checking your e-mail. The
majors, such as Alaska, Mexicana, American and Delta are parcelling out seats on an almost daily basis. Now. I'm talking SJD. LTO is a whole nuther
thing. There's simply not enough traffic to and fro to create any sort of competition. As I've said in the past, Loretanos, you have to count your
blessings. Deep, discounted airfare will only occur when your town is completely overrun with development.

and..... Loreto is building that nice new large modern terminal.
reminds me of the mexican standard of building a huge entry structure at a new development that never gets off the ground and so the entry arches and
gates slowly crumble....

Won't happen. LTO is a gateway not just for Loreto, but for Mulege, Pacific side surfing locations, Bahia de Concepcion, etc. The Aero Mexico flights
will start soon. Our fabulous new Airport Terminal will open soon. The state's 100,000,000 peso tourism promotion initiative is just starting. The
Loreto Malecon expansion will give us one of the longest and finest Malecons in all of Mexico! Loreto Bay is collapsing, ironically, into a smaller
and perhaps sustainable development! The so-called Marine Park is developing a revised management plan that will make it truly a real Marine Park, and
the fishing will rebound to be almost as good as Skeet says it is. The Shark Norma will be repealed! Taco prices will fall.
Things are going to be Great in Loreto! And the tourists are coming:

Well, thank you Don! That is certainly an optimistic report. I will not offer a cynical reply because I sincerely hope you are right.
