Rosita's in San Felipe
Does anyone know if Rosita's is open on Mondays, they're website doesn't give hours and they haven't replied to my email yet. We're heading down next
weekend for 10 days and want to go there for dinner on Monday night.

Is San Felipe open at all in the summer? Too da#$ hot! BW - come to Ensenada where it's a perfect 70 degrees!

We live in Mission Bay so we're use to the cool weather but like it hot from time to time plus the San Felipe sea temp is a warm 85 degrees and on the
Pacific it's still low 60's brrrrrr.... And yes along the waterfront most of the stores and restaurants remain open.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

I can think of several much better places to eat in San Felipe than Rositas.

Can you give some recomendations? I've had my home in the South Campos for 17 years now and have camped in the area for 10 years before that but the
restaraunt scene changes often. We don't make it to town much either...
I like Rosita's fish fillet with garlic sauce, it's damn good and doesn't break the bank. I saw Red Lobsters prices, ouch, that's what we spend in San
Diego for a high end meal... We want to stick to seafood...

We really like Chuey's - on Mar de Cortez across the side street from Baja Market near the north end of the street.

Hey chuck RICE & BEANS is pretty good, and i belive that his owner is brother to the guy that owns ROSITAS.
BAJA IS WHAT YOU WANTED TO BE, FUN,DANGEROUS,INCREDIBLE, REMOTE, EXOTIC..JUST GO AND HAVE FUN.....

Don't do it ( Chuys )
It used to be our favorite before Connie and I contracted salmonella there. It was 10 days of hell until the Cipro killed it. Our doctor would have
admitted us to the hospital had we been 10 years older. La Vaquita near the junction of Mar de Cortez and the Malecon has excellent seafood and
service.

Baja Angel always loves to go to George's Restaurant (near the Cortez Hotel)... However, we heard it has new owners and haven't tried it in the past
year... ??

that have eaten at the original George's ( next to Yetmail ) have been disappointed after the sale. The upside is that George has opened a new
restaurant next to his home. The food and service are as good or better than ever. Enjoy

The worst Fish Tacos I've ever eaten was in Rice and Beans.
The best Fish Tacos, Conchitas on the Malecon.
As for salmonella at Chueys, it's all luck of the draw. I've gotten cases of the trots at numerous restaurants both in the USA and Mexico.
La Vaquita is OK, was better when they first opened.
Baja Mar is good, a couple of bucks more, but good food and nice portions. A little touristy.
Go 5-6 miles north on Hwy 5, New Juanitos(old Colorado) or Andryus' place behind Un Otra Rancho store. Great prices and excellent food.

I agree about the food poisoning issue. One is never 100% immune from it anywhere in the world. I wonder how many long time regular nomads have NEVER
become ill from a food-related encounter? Widespread electrification has greatly cut down on the problem throughout Mexico and Baja specifically. Ice,
now almost exclusively made from purfied water, courtesy of the electricity also has helped. Not so much for those who still enjoy those off the grid
destinations. I'd say that if a restaurant is popular, and you've enjoyed their food in the past, you probably shouldn't be afraid to go there again,
utilizing a certain amount of caution as to what you order, and how it is prepared. Personally, I've taken ill a number of occasions, ranging from
interior Yucatan in the late 70s to Estero Beach Hotel two years ago. I still go to Estero Beach.

Now I'm scred off af Chuey's, followed
that place from his beginnings as little
more than a taco stand. was in SF
a couple months ago, planning to get
breakfast before heading home,
took the advice of a lingerling 'snowbird'
and stopped at Juanitas, 4 mi north of
town, apparently a favorite of the El Dorado
ranch area residents. A member of our party
found a 'beer bottle cap in her beans' that
came with the breakfast, sort of put a
damper to the meal
I believe the New Georges is up Manzanillo
from the Malecon, going toward the Puerticitos
road

Thanks everyone for their input, and it really is luck of the draw on some of these restaurants... I know when I've had a bad experiance at a
particular restaurant I'm done with that one, and give it a bad review.
My birthday is on the 15th and my wife wants to take me to town for a seafood dinner during our 10 day trip at our beach house.
Your right Rob, La Vaquita has never treated me wrong and has an extensive menu. You and I had a great meal there in February and I believe we both
had the fish fillet and steamed clams appetizer...Sounds like that's our spot.
