Are rental cars available at the Loreto airport?
I forgot to ask if rental cars are available for 1 day use in Loreta? We're planning to fly in early to Loreto, check for storage and take a look
around...then fly out back to the U.S.
Also..recommendation for a tasty lunch....thank you...ragsi

Rental cars are available at LTO even on a "walk in" basis though they are limited. You might need to taxi to town to one of the agency offices if
there is limited availability.
Lunch..Mita Gourmet is one of my favorites. For really local try El Rey del Taco on Benito Juarez. Not always open and not much to look at, but it's
a great place to eat.
Also on Salvatierra, McLulu's will alway serve a great lunch.

yes.
your posts make me wonder if you've ever been in Loreto?
zero inside public/for sale storage for a boat. only option would be a private individual.
good luck.

Beware of Eurocars rental...they tried to ding us for some scratches we didnt make...make sure you check the car over thouroughly before you get in it
and it's worth it to get the little extra insurance so they cant try to scam you when you turn the car in.

Boat Storage
The Loreto Storage facility is literally a stone's throw from the airport. I have seen folks fly in and walk up the airport road (Entronque Al
Aeropuerto) to the facility to get their vehicles that have been stored there. Ron and Wendy do have covered storage, as well as garages, and I have
seen several boats in there. The facility is new and exactly like a storage business in the US.
The Loreto Airport is a five minute drive from town.
Mita Gourmet is the best restaurant in Loreto, it is in the small plaza that fronts the Municipal Palace. (Palacio Municipal)
It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highly recommended.
I find it amusing that you want to fly in and leave after a few hours. Nothing gets done in Mexico quickly. I'm not saying that you can't find a place
for your boat in a short amount of time.....it's just that it will be oppressively hot during midday, most folks lay low and observe "siesta" and
short of having a local who knows everyone to take you around you may find it to be a bit of a challenge.
And by the way, how's your spanish?
I would also call Don Rhodes as another poster has suggested. He has a rental yard on his property a block from the Marina/Boat Ramp. 011526131351971
from the US.
Good luck.

as far as expense, one is probably as bad as the other. local taxis aren't allowed to pick up at the airport and the airport taxi monopoly makes
private trips in costly. being ferried around and returned to the airport IF they would do that..the town taxi monopoly would probably object to
that...? no se. I think they only drop and go. maybe someone on the forum who has used them lately can give you actual prices.
an internet reservation for a car saves $$$ over walk in.
you are only going to be in town for a few hours? how will you be leaving? not on a commercial plane. if private, I guess you don't have to worry
about cost of local transportation. if non-airplane, use whatever transportation you were planning to use for leaving Loreto to look around...

Don has "covered" parking, but not enclosed.. Last week he had no covered openings for rent..
I would stick with the taxi idea, if you are looking for a quick tour of Loreto and lunch...

there are some covered but open spaces at Puerto Escondido in the dry storage area. I don't know if they are available, Singlar vehicles are parked
in some, nor how high the roof is. you could contact Singlar Marina and ask.
